ECU Simulator is a small box with knobs, each representing some ECU output. It has choice of 2 OBD protocols and also speed/data width.
It runs on 12V or even 9V DC input.

I use it to try new Scanners, new Apps, returned/defective scanners, test scanners before shipping, etc.
Some startups/R&D firms both in apps & hardware bought it for on-desk kinda development/testing/etc. No need of car to try stuffs out.

Yours seems to be set up for ISO 9141-2 & ISO 14230 (KWP2000?) from the picture. Can it be user configured for a different protocol (say, CAN) if we want?

Yes, it is.
While I was creating the recording and turning the knobs to change the parameters, I felt like a DJ clap:

Im still exploring it, there is USB port in it by which we would, will update once i crack it!

I did try it but on the dashboard the Big meter that displays RPM is flickering continously and when I try and connect it to the bluetooth it says 'Connection Failed'. The Smart Log was in green do I guess data logging was happening.

Not understanding the problem. Any solution?

App has stability issues, try to restrict to only req parameters for logging. Disable smart logging so you have full control on when to start and stop logging. When recording many parameters, update on dashboard slows down a bit.

There is an option is Settings which can mimic adapter is connected. Check if that is ticked

Has anyone tried openxc so far? I am keen on some feedback before i take the 120$ plunge, though seriously hoping that they could come up with something for ELM

The free version of torque on some phones. The flickering and the slow transitions could be a phone problem. Check with another device with this adapter and the same software.

I was going through some turbo threads and some steering threads.

I saw folks connecting ELM327 and scanning for errors.

FYI...

ELM327 Reads only ENGINE related errors like crankshaft, timing, etc. and clear them, with Live Data.

ELM327 DO NOT Read ABS, AirBag, Immobilizer, HVAC, Climate Control, EPS, Transmission, Body Electronics like seat, light, etc Errors nor Live Data

There are more professional tools which can access those information

Hi buddy,

Can you be a bit clear on the issue you are facing?

What software are you using to check on the data?

If it is the Torque App, then correctly enter the vehicle weight + fuel weight + driver weight etc to calculate the FE, Hp & Torque correctly.

I am using the free torque app.
The app doesnt show fuel level even.
I can understand a little up and down .But i get figures of 5-8kmpl only.
