Safari DICOR LX starting issue, and some more

Hi,
A family member's safari is giving couple of weird problems which started appearing at the same time. One serious and one annoyance. Tata guys have attached there ECU analyzer and found nothing faulty
Problem 1:
If the car is parked for 3-4 days without use, it refuses to start, with the self not turning over properly as if battery is down. Push the car some engage gear, let is "hiccup". After that crank it the self turns as if the battery is new.
Problem 2:
Sometimes the fuel gauge is really erratic. If will jump from half to full and full to half and then stabilize to correct level after some time.

Since both there problems appeared at the same time there appears to be some electric problem which the TASS guys cannot diagnose.

The warranty gets over in a couple of months because there is no extended warranty .

Problem 1: seems like a starter issue, the starter solenoid switch
Problem 2: Check fuel level sensor grounding, meter grounding then decide

Can be just a bad earthing issue also. Tata and its infamous quality issues.

OT: test drove a dicor couple of weeks back and for a 10k kms vehicle state in which it was PATHETIC!!

Again advice to do a thorough electric check up, Tata cars are prone to this issue from day one

@Tsk

I suspect the Starter motor and Ignition coil, Try replacing them at the TASC..! However if the Error is not detected in the ECU,It really is strange.

BTW The extended warranty can be purchased before the expiry of the Orignal Manufacturers warranty, I suggest to get that done before the expiration.

Could the Battery be at Fault in this case ?

@Jaggu, Just because your expierence has not been good, does not mean that All TATA cars have issues..!

OT: oops sorry didnt want to tread on Tata owners, lets accept it, quality is inconsistent by any manufacturer, and in Tata its very prominent thats all, hope we can admit to this much

And its not just one car issue am talkin about rather a host of complaints by very close friends included, one who even sold out at great loss

again lets not hijack the thread, and stick to helpin out here

Earthing issue. Fixed in a few minutes. Hopefully no problems now.
Reason : Some scaling on contacts.

As far as fuel gauge is concerned it may be with "FLOAT" whihc is a resistance in the tank. It happened with my Indica some time back. Got a new float and fixed.. try it

Please check if Starter Motor was replaced as part of the upgrade package at some point of time. If not, get it replaced before you run out of warranty.

.i think the rpm sensor is the culprit. many dicors , when their rpm sensors when wet by leaking oil or contaminated by dust , had stalled. try this ... just clean it with carbo cleen spray..

The starter is fine, the problem was earth wiring, and the battery has gone weak, so crank still is a little half hearted.
On monday
1. Get the extended warranty (9000 bucks)
2. Get the battery checked from Amaron, if faulty get one with 4 years of warranty.

I'm glad that the extended warranty cover is being purchased, Just a Tip, A month Back I read a notice at Vivek Auto- That some limited time period offer to get the warranty extended with huge discount-So you may want to check if the offer is valid now or not, It will save some.

I have experience only with automobile sterling, no idea about others. Sterling is decent, nothing great, and nothing too bad, just your regular slightly incompetent guys.

safari non responsive after starting

I have different start up problem with my safari 3.0 dicor.
Recently, when i start my car in the morning, its starts up immediately and steadies between 1000-1500RPM. But after that, the accelerator doesn't work and i can't raise the rpm. Its as if the car hasn't started at all? even the brake doesn't respond. it's like the brake thinks that the engine is still off.
I tried all things, idling the car for a minute before pressing the accelerator, etc.
The only solution is the windows one. RESTARTING. sometimes it takes 2-3 restarts to get it working.

Tata motors ofcourse says that this is not possible and won't help.

Anyone had a similar problem and got it solved?

Anyone know of a good tata safari service guy in south bombay? shaman tata motors is the worst and i wouldn't even suggest that place to a taxi driver!
