Take all this feedback’s from the perspective of a layman who upgraded from a hatchback

Fit and finish is ok . Just I spotted a tiny misalignment in door beading .

Cabin noise levels are minimal( compared to Figo- TDCI) . In low rpms there is some noise filtering in to the cabin but once turbo spoiled in , mostly its wind noise )

Started a long drive from Bhopal to Pachmari, - one way drive of 200kms . Decided to do this for understanding the niggles as am expecting it in a Tata and mentally prepared for the same .

The road is almost non existent and this where I loved the harrier . It just swallows potholes , big road edges and it is actually empowering me to ride with confidence . It’s a rugged machine altogether when compared to seltos which was its prime competition

The riding dynamics is awesome with high speed stability and weighted steering ( biased as I upgraded from Fiat’s and Fords in the family )

Visibility is another advantage when compared to a hatchback . CSUVs like Captor, Creta and Duster looks small

Automatic is well mated to the engine . Enjoying the drive

First niggle spotted
Water seepage in co-driver footwell . Almost covered 100kms and called service guys and they told its due to AC drain pipe sealing issue

They got the platform from Land Rover (Technically from Ford)
They got the engine from Fiat
They got the Transmission from Hyundai
But what they actually needed was a quality inspection team from Hyundai/Kia

I can't imagine dropping 20+ on a car just to have constant headache and fear that something might go wrong anytime, anywhere.

Hope they sort out the issues in your car for good and you have a better and issue free future with it! Also lovely choice of colour!

Man this is what gets my goat. You get a brand new car and next day find a puddle of water inside the cabin due to AC pipe not sealed.

This is supposed to be V2 of Harrier with improvements and these QC issues are still present.

No matter how good a car the Harrier is, it is so difficult to recommend to anyone.

I was just in the same boat yesterday. A friend of mine is almost on the verge of booking an AT Diesel Harrier after having taken multiple test drives and came out happy. When we were having the final chat around this, the quality issue cropped up besides his apprehension on Tata service standards. I left it to him to take the final call.

These are the two obvious thorns in the flesh of otherwise a great car that makes a buyer to sit on the fence. Tata needs to take a leaf out of Toyota's book- of launching a product right the first time and no half baking business. The bad mouth it got with the V1 of Harrier is still lingering on people's minds, something which Tata could've avoided had they not rushed it's launch.

Congrats on your purchase, and wish you lakhs of happy miles with it.

The seepage issue is really heartbreaking. Hope it's the first and last niggle you face.

Since you said you are still wiping the footwell, haven't you got a chance to get the issue fixed?

Re: 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic : Official Review

You know things are bad when even after plonking 20 lacs on a car the buyer is expecting the first niggle to pop up, not expecting a trouble free experience, but expecting a niggle

Tata should send a service team to the buyer's house and get this sorted. First day of the delivery, the buyer should be elated and not draining footwells.

Thanks so much pseudo coder . Yes we bought that for touring and hope it will do it purpose faithfully

Yesterday we took delivery and didn’t drive much . I went to 3M for noodle mats and they told us there is a bit of water on carpet and we thought it might be water from the bottle . Again am not expecting something so fundamental like this

Today morning went for a 200km drive to get accustomed with the vehicle and after some 100 kms , water literally started seeping in after soaking carpet and noodle mats . Called the Varenyam Motors GM and he told they will get it corrected the first thing in tomorrow morning and offered pick and drop . He really sounded sorry for the entire ordeal

Another glitch we spotted is in ICE : the entire LCD instrument cluster and Infotainment screen went off and came on two times within a span of 10 minutes . At that time android auto was connected. In entire journey it was just two times that happened . Otherwise it worked smoothly with both Apple car play and Android auto.

Positive side of the story
After munching 400 kms in almost 13 hrs ( roads are really bad in rural MP , our average speed was 30kms and FE on cluster is 10.9) my wife is super happy primarily due to ride quality and music system . We were so fresh after the entire journey . The car is awesome to drive with weighted steering , minimum body roll, powerful AC and good seats.

I went into my Hexa purchase just like you but i have had absolutely no issues. I'm sure this is just a small niggle and the issue will be solved. Wishing you many happy miles!

This reminds me of my first car a Maruti 800 which had a similar leaky issue: when it rained I used to spend a good hour or two using my Husqvarna Vacuum Cleaner to suck out water and dry it. Maruti was unable to find the source of the leak and I sold it in frustration and bought a Hyundai Accent. Leak is not the problem the musty smell of the wet mats and the accompanying health hazard and respiratory problems are. Don't be too polite, put your foot down and get the problem solved.

Niggle: to worry someone slightly, usually for a long time.
Source: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/...english/niggle

So a water soaked carpet in a brand new 2 million rupee car is a 'small niggle'. Nice. Great positive thinking.

When the bar is so low it ain't no surprise that some companies are just not up there in quality.

What they are essentially doing is making paying customers to be their beta testers.

Sorry to hear of your ordeal.

Please do update the thread with the resolution.

I would also raise this directly with TML and make them aware of these posts of yours. If anything it should help expedite the resolution.

Such niggles are simply not acceptable in a brand new car.

Lastly, kudos to you for keeping a cool head, and not missing the positives.

Wish you the best

The car has as much of of a Dicor pedigree as a land rover pedigree. Some things just don’t change. Here are a couple of posts from 2012:

There’s more of the same in this thread. Pretty sure I read about a Tiago owner having the same issue. It’s a straightforward fix and one that they should be experts at by now.
