VW Taigun DSG, Shudder when driving through water

Had to drive my 1.5 DSG through a flooded area today - with the Chennai cyclone. Many cars went past where I had to go - an Innova, Eritga, Ignis..

So I took the chance. I’d reckon there was 8-12inchs of water.

While driving through the waterlogged area, the car started shuddering but didn’t switch off. I drove at low speed, in 1st gear and at high revs (higher than required)

The car then continued to shudder a bit, especially when the gears shifted from 1-2 (after the water logged section in dry areas) and then the car was doing fine. Gears seem to be shifting fine, no warning lights, no more shudder.

Should I get the transmission fluid checked or can I continue driving, if I don’t feel that there’s something wrong with gear shifting?

Thanks!

DSG transmission is a sealed box & if you haven't hit anything underwater - damage is unlikely.

I have driven my Kodiaq 2.0 DSG through 20 inches of flooded water - with all proximity sensors blaring - but without any shuddering.
It's been more than 3 months nothing wrong popped up.

Hence permanent damage to Tiagun is a far possibility but nothing wrong to get it scanned & checked.

If the exhaust pipe was submerged in water, there will be some resistance for the exhaust gases to escape and this will affect the engine performance. This may be the reason for temporary shudders.

Now got check engine light after 2 days - didn’t start the car after that until now

Get it scanned and make sure they tell you the codes!

Re: VW Taigun DSG, Shudder when driving through water

I had misplaced my OBDeleven tool, searched high and low and finally found it. It showed an O2 sensor error. Called Vagmaster - they are the best when it comes to VWs in Chennai. They advised driving the car on the highway for a bit as fast as possible - which I did and the check engine light disappeared after 10 km of high speed driving, and it’s not coming on again. Whoop!

Apparently the taigun has 2 O2 sensors and one of them is placed low near the exhaust. Looks like that was a bit wet, and was activating funky until fully dry.

I got it for some 6,000 from Dubai. It needs a subscription though, which costs 5,000 per year for ios. It can also be used for tweaking and unlocking features. More on an OBDeleven
Device here:

You can buy it from their official website - it will be delivered to your place after custom clearances.
