I have tried all VW VIN decoders online and they throw all sorts of rubbish like my Vento was manufactured in 1981 in Czech republic, I am still scratching my head over it and would appreciate any help :)

@wildon, the last 2 characters for my car are B5 which would mean Feb-2005 - I bought the car in Mar2005. I always had this feeling that I might have got a 2004 model, which is now clarified.

Is there any other useful info on the car that can be gleaned from the other 17 characters ?

Unfortunately i'm not able to extract any other details from Maruti-Suzuki VIN.

That means this is practically an old vehicle right?

^^ Yes you are correct, if this is a new purchase from Authorized showroom better stay away from this and ask from the latest lot. i.e October(K) or November (L)
