I am looking to purchase a pre owned Ecosport S Ecoboost. I noticed this model too has issues with MID screen and its not working. Any idea what the replacement cost would be and how long would it take for a dealership to procure it?

Ah, the charm of the Ecoboost! That zippy little engine has a knack for keeping drivers smiling. However I hear the wet timing belt is a bit of a diva and definitely appreciates some care.

The remap potential is a gem, though; it’s like unlocking hidden levels in a game, particularly compared to the more modest 5-speed diesel gearbox. Too bad about the screen situation, though. It is not a child part. Replacing the entire instrument cluster for 20-25k sounds like overkill (and ouch for the wallet) but that is the standard practice recommended by Ford to service centers. At that price tag a used full digital cluster from abroad sounds like a smarter move, even with additional bump in cost.

I replaced the MID cluster with UK based cluster. Looks much better with colored display and the navigation directions as well.

Regarding the wet timing belt, the car is just run nearly 44K Kms as of now. Any idea at what interval it's known to throw tantrums?

The timing belt issues in the 1.0L EcoBoost engine show a wide range of usage reports from owners. While the median distance for problems arises around 100,000 kilometers, some users have experienced issues as early as 60,000 kilometers. The degradation of the timing belt itself might not be a critical problem, but the resulting rubber debris can clog vital components like the oil pump, turbocharger, and circulation lines, leading to engine starvation. To mitigate this risk, it's wise to request your mechanic to inspect the timing belt during every service, starting at 60,000 kilometers. Early detection or replacement can save significant repair costs down the line.

This helps a lot, thanks! One more question. My car is a November 2018 variant. While the running is just 43800 Kms as of now, I am worried about the time duration of 6.5 years. Can the timing belt also fail as per the time duration, despite the low running?

Age is undeniably a significant factor in rubber degradation, especially when exposed to oil over time. Prolonged exposure leads to the permeation of oil into the rubber, gradually breaking down its molecular structure.
