They might be able to open the car, but cranking is not possible. Same is the case with the remote. The addition of the new remote will remove the old remote identity in the system so that it will no longer be able to command the car.
Untill you get the new keys programmed, better watch out for the car. If you do not have an immobiliser in your car, I am afraid you have to change the entire lock set.
Thank you !

I asked the dealer and he said the old key can be reprogrammed to that old key will be of no use.but i doubt ,let me go there on Saturday and find out

When you program two new keys, the old keys will automatically be erased from the ECU memory. Just finished the ordeal of losing both the keys of our Omni and getting a set of new keys. If you want any more details, feel free to ask.

Audioholic - Thanks for the information. Just one general question. What you mentioned in your reply is applicable for Maruti cars that come with iCats system as well? (not sure if you already mentioned about this so thought checking specifially).

Yes. ICats only. When you program new keys, old keys can open the car but not crank it anymore. The non-iCats keys can have any number of duplicates simultaneously, but ICats as far as I remember the SA can have only two keys in the memory of the ecu which are able to crank it.

Re: Swift Remote Key Lost! please help

I lost my new swift key last week. I lost it in office, so for security reasons, came to dealer and erased from ECU. It took nearly one day as the confirmation had to come from Delhi. I had to order new set of keys and register it. It cost me 3000 bugs for the new set of keys.

If they remove from ECU, no one will be able to unlock the door too. Fortunately or Unfortunately I found my key from office security. I tried it again, it did not work. I was not able to even unlock the doors.

Without the remote, the keys cost Rs. 1200+500 for the programming. Security system is a different thing though.

Re: Swift Remote Key Lost! please help

Contacting Nippon should take care of your worries. Back when I owned a Maruti 800 with a Nippon security system fitted aftermarket, I had to call the Nippon people a couple of times, and the guy visited, took care of the problems and left, without even charging a visit fee.

I think they also do service at your doorstep so you can just call their person to your residence or office and get the job done. No need to go to the dealer's.

I tend to disagree. ICATS is something to do with the engine. With a similiar pattern key, you can open the door mechanically. You can also perform all key related functions like opening boot, switching on accessories etc. However, car will not crank. That is when iCats comes into play.

If you were not able to open the car with the old "remote", it is because the security and keyless module is different and the new remote will be programmed separately after the new key is. So the old remote will not work once a pair of new remotes are registered. However, you will be able to use the old key without problems incase you need to open the car using the keyhole.

I too lost the keys of my swift(central locking equipped) too.

so once the ECU code is reprogrammed the old keys cannot unlock the door and the boot too?

did the dealer ask for a police acknowledgement to get a new set of keys? because the guy from RNS motors asked me to lodge a police complaint and get the police acknowledgement to get a new set of keys.
