I was just browsing through these old posts. Recoup has worked wonders for my wife. She had severe neck pain running from her neck to the tips of her fingers due to residual stress/ergonomics. She had to quit work for a brief period because of this pain and thanks to RECOUP, she is back to work now.

I had recommended this clinic to many acquaintances of mine and most seem to have benefited.

Re: Severe back pain and driving!

Dear Fellow T-BHPians,
I have been having lower back pain on and off since a very long time. In collusion with the "normal" doctors I had been "tending" to this back pain with different "cures" and "jugaads" till just a few days back. A few days back took appointment with one more orthopaedic surgeon who took one look at the X-ray picture of my spine and declared that I had this coming on and off since fourty years! Yeah, almost 40 years. And now I have to go for blood tests and MRI of spine. Will know what turns up in a few days. Just wanted to share with you guys. Will post the results as they emerge.

Sorryto hear that. Make sure your car seat has lumbar support. Also nowadays you get chairs with slightly more lumbar support than ordinary ones. Try and get one to make you more comfortable.

How about learning and practising Yoga?

Re: Severe back pain and driving!

Mates,
I would like to share my story with you. In 2006 I suffered slip disc due sitting in front of laptop for hours (without exercise) as my profession requires that. My cervical disk C4 and C5 came out. It was touching my spinal cord due to which I cannot move my neck at all. Also my right hand thumb and last finger was numb. My right hand used to ache a lot when I used to sleep, and no medicine/ massage including pain aid tablets was giving me relive. I even went for radiation and physio therapist, but all in vain. Then my orthopaedic surgeon advised me to go for the Surgery cause that was the last solution to get relief. I went to another doctor for second opinion, but after seeing all my reports he suggested that I should have done this surgery at least 2 months ago. After a long stint I agreed and the expenditure was around 4.2 lacs. As they were going to involve neurosurgeon cause it is for the first time and disks are very close to brain. He also mentioned that this will not be one time solution as after every 4-5 years they need to replace the disk after checking disk conditions. It can sustain till 6-7 years too. As my company bares all the expenses for my medical, I was ok.

I paid 10k advance to book OT at Lilavati Hospital. And orthopedic surgeon recommended me for medicine course before surgery. This was including Cap MYORIL. The course was for 45 days. By god’s grace on 20th day one of my old colleague met me at Vashi station and told me to visit one of the Ayurveda centre where he got treated for his Lumbar.
As advised, I thought why not to try? I took phone number and called them for appointment but all appointment for that day was full. Hence took next day appointment and visited the doctor. He saw all my MRI and other reports and advised me to throw them. Doctor suggested only 2 exercises and gave me some ayurvedic tablets which nee to consumed 2 at a time and with the gap of 12 hrs daily. Also gave me oil which needs to apply at the back of my neck he made it very clear that I need not to massage that oil. Guys you will not believe on 7th day my pain subsided tremendously and after 12-15 days I started to move my neck in all direction without pain. Numbness feeling of two fingers also not there. I spoke to my Orthopaedic surgeon he advised me to go for surgery even when pain and numbness was not there cause it can occur again. But I didn’t care. I cancelled my operation though I lost my 10k with the hospital. It is almost 7 yrs now, I do not have any trouble.

Friends you will not believe the ayurvedic medicine cost me, 1.5 month tablets 70 INR and oil 20 INR. I met that doctor again after 15 days he advised me not lift any heavy weight. Also he explained me about the procedure of healing process of the human body. After that I recommended 4-5 people from my company to that centre and all are happy today. The centre was Patanjali Clinic. Previously it was on Vashi station now it has moved to Belapur station in the tower just above station.

Re: Severe back pain and driving!

Friends,

Ever heard of the "psoas" muscles. Trust me, search google for this keyword, and many of you who have lower back pain could benefit from just stretching this set of muscles. I had the lower back pain issue for some time. I did X-Ray, MRI, Massaging, pain relieving medicines, nerve relaxation medicines etc. but none worked. I was doing a routine physiotherapy after a knee operation recently, and I happened to mention my physio about this. He immediately told about this muscle and advised some exercises. This is the muscle which connects the lower back to the hip/thigh bone, and that ensures that your upper body does not rotate 360%. Now, I am very conscious about my fitness and work out in the gym often, so I never realised that I could have lower back issues. Lot of driving and sitting in office didn't help matters. Apparently, all the exercises I did in the Gym is never designed to stretch this muscle. They only contract this muscle.

In Yoga, there are a few postures which helps relax and stretch this muscle. I did a few postures and after a few days, I got immense relief.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, so it may or may not work for your condition. Better to rule out other conditions before taking this on as I did.

I went to their Thrissur centre for treatment for neckpain and backpain about 4 years back. The treatment period was about 3 weeks, 45 minutes of massage daily. The physio also advised some exercises. But I did not benefit out of it.

Deadlifts & Bent Over Rows. Get a strong back. Plain and simple. Human bodies were never meant for a sedentary lifestyle.

A combination of these works wonders - yoga, fast cars, small meals and much younger girlfriends.

My own experience over the last few months, with Recoup, in Vaishali Ghaziabad, has been significantly better.
My symptoms for Cervical Spondilysis have abated significantly, and now I'm able to easily manage myself, with a set of exercises.
A number of friends and family have also benefited a lot, after I recommended them, for a variety of Ergonomic, Cervical and Lumbar problems.

Re: Severe back pain and driving!

Just got this tip from Ford. In case it helps anyone.....I use a money clip, so not applicable to me, but sure is an eye-opener!

Never put your wallet in your back pocket while driving as it presses the sciatic nerve resulting pain in your legs and lower back

Re: Severe back pain and driving!

A simple tip but can be hugely beneficial - Never sit upright, keep your seat at around 110 degree position, that way your upper body weight will rest on the back(of the seat) rather than on your disk.

Re: Severe back pain and driving!

My own experience with back pain, goes back to 25 years ,when I had a fall as a child.Nothing much happened at that time ,but later on, there was this persistent back pain and neck pain.In 2005,I was diagnosed with Spondylosis, which made me quit my desk job.I survived with pain killers and pure grit . (Doctors said go for operation and I said no)
After that I started yoga and stopped Gym. Spondylosis got cleared, still the lower back was always troubling me.There were days, when I get up curved to a side.In 2010, I did Ayurveda treatment, which consisted of internal cleansing and massage, (Vamana,Virechana and Vasti) as per the advice of a qualified Ayurveda doctor and to my surprise, the pain was gone!. I never thought Ayurveda can be so effective .The whole process was not so comfortable, but still now the pain has not resurfaced .
Currently, I don't do any type of heavy lifting activities and is only on vegetarian diet .I continue with Yoga and meditation. In addition to this ,I agree to the following.
Do not put anything in your back pockets ,while you drive or ride as this will give stress to the spine.
Do stretch your body daily as this will reduce the stress factor on muscles.
Do not sit for long anywhere or in front of the computer, move your muscles. This applies to necks, spine and legs.
If you are driving long ,stretch properly before you start.Stretching sideways and twisting the upper body will help.
Neck rotation is also good once in an hour.If you have stiff neck ,get a good neck support, while driving.
Hope, this post will help someone.

Customised seat for Scala car

Hi

I have a Renault Scala thats hardly 4+ years old. Unfortunately recently I had to undergo a spinal surgery and I will now need to have a car/ car seat where I can get in/out and sit like in a SUV at a height and flat. I would like to avoid buying a new car/SUV just for this reason. Is there anyone in Bengaluru who can make a new drivers seat for the car where it is higher and like a SUV & easy to get in and sit? I am somehow not happy with a suggestion to stitch a new seat cover with a bunch of cushions inside. I know the looks may get compromised but better than buying a new SUV.

If there is anyone in Bengaluru who can help me do this? I would be grateful for any advice I can get on this issue.

Thanks in advance
Regards
Vasisht

Severe back problems with Honda Accord and Civic post 2008 models

Fellow BHPians,

I am facing a challenge with both my honda cars. More with the 2009 accord but also with the 2012 civic. Even driving short distances leads to lower back pain. I have been in physiotherapy now for some weeks due to this. I read up quite a bit and changed all variables till my wife and I both zeroed in on the fault with our cars.

Apparently the problem is well known in the western world. Although i couldnt find much information on the indian forums. Please see the link below

http://www.hondaproblems.com/trends/...ortable-seats/

There have been online petitions etc. But getting back to my issue, i am almost on the verge of selling both my honda cars unless there is some way i can modify, change the drivers seat. Both my wife and I have been facing lower back and sciatic pain and driving these cars is making it worse. Except the back issue, we both like our cars. Is there a way out? Please help

Thanks
Saakar
