I thought the squeak is coming by the friction in the wheels. I will take it to TASS during my 2nd service.

BTW, I am noticing too much of brake dust on the alloys. Is it I am too harsh on braking or just the quality of the pads or am I seeing because of the alloys?

Brake dust is normal. It is more visible on alloys than on steel wheels.

re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

HI Guys

Just need an advice from you. I am planning to give my Safari for Ist service this weekend. Apart from already mentioned issues in my thread, I am also thinking of getting extended warranty of 2 years. I was told that it can be bought only withing one month of purchase. Is it really worth going for it?

There are only two issues that I am gonna take up with TASS. First is the powerloss at 1500-1800 rpm and hiss noise when turning full.
Let us see what answers they have to these niggles.

Cheers.

It is always worth going for extended warranty for Safari. Please go ahead and take it.

It is not an issue but characteristics of hydraulic power steering. It is present in all cars with HPS and nothing to worry about it.

Have to eat my own words. I felt the jerk thrice while returning home. The engine was warm. Not sure why it happened. Today morning beast is behaving itself. Maybe I should offer her chocolates every morning?

There is no debate. Go ahead with extended warranty. Curious to hear about the powerloss issue.

For me, the issue persists. More pronounced in morning drives and not as pronounced in evening.. I dunno why.
I haven't tried the high-rev-at-3k-rpm-30-seconds solution yet, hoping to try it soon.

I am now regularly revving engine upto 4K RPM in 4 - 5 days interval and to my surprise it is not coming. Last Sunday I was going to Airport around 4 AM in the morning in fully cold engine and I did not face this issue, however I was vigilant to catch this issue.

On last friday I revved engine upto 4K RPM. Seems like this is the solution for this.

re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

I Dont own A Safari but Hopefully plan to buy one within the next month and i have a doubt which i thought could be best answered in this thread what i have noticed for some time now is that in some safari's not all I have seen that the rear suspension at times is low as compared to the front end, this i have seen both with passengers sitting in the middle row and strangely today i saw it in a safari which just had one occupant unluckily i couldnt get a Snap due to traffic the droop at the rear was prominent, I have never seen such a prominent droop in other Suv's in delhi, I was jus wondering is this a some sort of issue which happens ovr time or what?

Do that at least once a week verditer and this issue will disappear. Many of us truckers have done that and the issue has not come back.

Could anybody tell me the DIFFERENTIAL oil capacity and grade for Safari? Also, which brand would be cheap under the same grade oil?

re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

Hi Guys

Back from my1st free service. All small small issues have been addressed. Regarding the powerloss issue, shown the vehicle to service manager. He test drove it and the vehicle didn't give that problem. so after the service, the ECU was connected to EMS Laptop. The diagnostics showed no problems. We took it for test drive with EMS connected for real time troubleshooting but again no joy on EMS although vehicle did miss the heart beat on couple of occasions. Then the senior engineer told me that this issue is with new safaris, basically BS IV due to EGR valve setting. Nothing to worry. Came back without much success on this issue. Lets see what others have to say.

Till next time, safe driving.
