Now they said that the FIP timing had to be adjusted, and they also checked for any leakages. In one hour the vehicle was delivered, free of cost and they claimed that they adjusted the FIP timing. They also claimed that the FIP timing needs to be adjusted as I had replaced my fuel pump head about 6 months back. I think the total time spent on the vehicle was about 20 mins or so, so it is highly unlikely that they did adjust the timing.
Aadya is not good. I have been there thrice (its the closest to my house so i initially didn't mind visiting them multiple times) regarding the door rattling issue on my new safari, they fix it and the problem comes back again after 2 days. I am planning to take it to concord this week.

They also don't take care of the vehicles properly, i got my car back with the beige seat covers turned black and i had to literally force them to clean those. I also noticed a scratch on the door (though not too prominent).

Any special attention to be taken care here ?

5. What would be the life of the wiper blades ? .Currently my truck is 7 months old. The wiper blades kind of shakes on the windshield and it is not smooth. I have insisted them for replacement.
Do this come under warranty or it is treated as normal wear and tear considering most of the time my truck is exposed to sun.
The doors will rattle a bit, and the tail gate will rattle away to glory. DIY is the only remedy and you will have to do it as often as you hear rattles.

The wipers on my truck too did not last more than 8 months. Ive changed it to Bosch and its working great. I intend to change the wipers set every year just before monsoons settle in, just to ensure i have the best performance when its needed the most.

Wipers do not come under warranty, since they come under consumables and are prone to wear and tear.

.
Get the tail gate lock changed to the sumo type. This is a permanent fix to the tail gate rattle. Costs around Rs. 750/- else use Dadu's 'credit card' fix.

Is this just replacing the existing tail gate lock with the Sumo's or is there a welding, drilling or cutting job that needs to be done.

I had asked at my TASS, but they refused to do it saying some cutting and welding of the body is required which i was not prepared for.

If you know of a place where they do this well, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

There is not much of cutting and no welding. I got it done at Concorde Kudlu gate. They change both the door and the holder on the pillar.

My truck's brakes judder at triple digit speeds. Last time when I gave the car for 3rd service they didn't think the front disks needed to be changed. I protested and they said - ok sir - bring it back when you are free. I have extended warranty which will last for another year. Front disks are covered under extended warranty ?

Thanks guys.

Yes, disks are covered under extended warranty. You may have to needle them to get them changed however. The insurance guys, who give approval often try to deny everything they can.
So make sure when you go to claim extended warranty, your brake pads are in good condition, otherwise, they will blame it on wear and tear due to worn out brake pads

Is the side-door cladding (one that is fixed at the rear door; I don't know the exact name, but it is held at its place by 'kechars') available at TASC's? Mine has fallen off today.

re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

Hi!!!

I have October 2007 Safari 2.2, having done 74000+.
The problem I am facing is with Clutch:
  • About an year+ back the Clutch Pedal stopped retracting, and hence had a huge play. Got the same BLED and Gear Oil change @ TASS
  • Was all OK for last 12 months.
  • Now about Month back the same problem resurfaced, and again got Clutch Bled and Gear Oil Change (From external Workshop). But within a week's time, the Clutch is again showing ample play, and also there is some 'Thup' type noise on Gear Changes @ low speeds (typically G1/ G3).
The owner of workshop has advised me to go for both Cylinders as well as Plates change.

Please advise. Also if its advisable to get it done from outside Workshop (of Repute) - and claims to use only 'Off The Shelf Parts' (Not Aftermarket).

Regards,
Ishlesh

For the thump noise while changing gears, you will have to change the clutch and pressure plates, I had this problem in my Safari but never dared to change clutch plates and it gave me no problems. For unrestricted clutch pedal operation you will have to change the faulty master\slave cylinder.

You had extended warranty? If so why not use that to get the master and slave cylinders changed?
Plates are not covered, but Master and slave cylinders are covered under extended warranty.
Anyways, for now, you can change the entire clutch as a set rather than going piece by piece.
It costs 12000rs.

re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

There is a continous squeaking noise coming from the right rear door hinges area; I have tried lubricating the hinges but that has not helped. Haven't been able to pinpoint the source - any ideas?
Want to try to fix it myself first if possible before going to TASS for such a minor thing.

The squeak source being close to my right ear when driving, is quite annoying...
Any pointers to what I can do to address this?

Check the seat near that area. Shake it and see if any noise comes.
As for the door, do you hear anything when you open and shut it? If not, then its not the hinges but somewhere else.
