Havent been using the car regularly, last week when i took it out i heard a whine while accelerating. It disappeared after a few km's . Yesterday i opened the bonnet and found a rat, and the whine seems to be there. it increased after i parked and when i move the steering it sounds even bad. but there seems no damage to any wires. Is this due to less usage or the rat? Any think i should be careful about?

PS: I ve got ratkill and put in inside the bonnet.

Check the level in the power steering fluid reservoir.

Where do you get Nissin Brake Pads in Bangalore? JC Road? Which shop is recommended? Is there any other pads that you guys have tried out and genuine ones are available in Bangalore?

I might need them in the next 5K kms or so as it seems.

I had my wiper rubbers changed last weekend. The overall cost came upto 1650 INR including labour. The brand that came as OE and now replaced as well is 'MITSUBA'. Any Civic owner has an experience with any other brands?

Check at General Auto Spares. Siddaiah Road
They usually stock OEM spares.

I had purchased Nissin Pads for my OHC at JC Road (3 years back), I don't remember the shop name, but it's in second lane after you take the left off JC Road opp Parking complex.. just after 10+ shops, you'll find the shop towards your right. His(Malayali) shop is displyed with Honda, Toyota other manufacturers logos.

Power steering fluid looks to be low but there are no leaks. But that wouldn't be the cause for the whine right ?

It would. I had a similar problem once a few years back and the whistling/whining noise was due to low PS fluid.

The loss of PS fluid was not due to leaks though, it had probably 'boiled' up in the hill roads and had come out of the top cover.

The problem never repeated again.

Low ps fluid causes the whine. Please go to a competent, independent and trusted garage get the ps hoses checked out for leakages.Check, with the engine off,if the serpentine belt is smeared in oil or not.A ps overhaul at hass would cost a bomb in case needed so go to a good garage.

Back to T-bhp after a long gap.

My Civic with the magic numbers.

The serpentine belt looks clean and dry, i went to Magnum and they took 30 mins to attend. once the SA came there was no noise, similarly the noise disappeared after a while last time as well. I just got the PS fluid topped up. Will wait for a week and see if it gets low again.

Rat doesn't seem to eating the ratkill. Any other suggestions ?

Hi laluks, this page has some details on the Nissin pads; about identifying the genuine and fake ones.

I was quoted something similar by the A.S.S. That's the reason I was thinking of checking out Kashmere Gate. With a potential clutch replacement coming up, i'd like to keep costs to a minimum :)

Do they even do the installation etc at kashmere gate or will I just have to buy the parts and get it installed on my own? And more importantly, can I take my car? I have no idea where this market is situated at kashmere gate

can I get any help on this?
