Seems like I had inspired a few of you to take up this simple,inexpensive mod.
And you did it for Rs.3/-

It seems that the paper you used is slightly different from the one I used. Mine was more transparent.

The trick here is to use more layers of paper to give the correct red colour. too thick and it goes dark, too less and it will be pink.

removing zen instrument cluster

@vivekji05 - any idea as to whats the best way to remove zen's instrument cluster.....
the screws are at the lower top of the instrument :(

Re: esteem instrument cluster backlighting changed to red

no work today meant, time to do some DIY, we did change the backlights of my friends OHC Vtec and my Esteem..

Few points for others who want to do it.

Esteem - the speedo cable is on the left handside and you have to get a leverage to move the console a bit, find the clip holding the speedocable, press and release.. presto!!

OHC Vtec - The speedo cable is on the right handside, do the same as above.

you also have to change the diffuser strip, that sits right above the cluster.


Get the Blue divider out, and place the gelatin paper strip.

Voila!!
