Jerks during acceleration in my carb esteem

I am facing issues while accleration in my carb 98VX esteem. What could be the reason?

Can you please suggest any repairs/mods for smooth acceleration?

I am quoting an example for you to better understand the problem :

In the first gear once your car is at the speed of about 15Kmph(with the clutch fully released). You press the gas pedal gently to increase speed but before it accelerates you get a couple of jerks and then the car picks up.

Thanks for your suggestions/reccomendations in advance.

i had a similar problem. please have your high tension cables that run from the distributor to the engine. i just had them changed and the car is running like a dream.
a choked carburettor perhaps?

Thanks and how much did it cost you to get those replaced?

about 1.5k for the cables with labour at the maruti A.S.S. i suggest you wait for any more opinions on this thread before taking the plunge. im not too well versed with carburetted automobiles.
but my suspicion seems quite correct. lets wait and see what the gurus have to say!

i had an esteem too and faced similar issue. I would suggest you check your fuel pump and carburettor. Its not a big deal.

Fisrt thing first! check fuel filter and air filter
If its fine check the following.
1. spark plugs and related parts including coil.
2. improper timing
3. carb servicing/cleaning required.
