It's true, not available in any authorised service centres. Is it a good idea to check out the local mechanics. I'm a little apprehensive about the spares.

Re: Hi People, problems with getz 1.3!

Hard to believe!

Anyway, is there any way you can source the spares from the nearest city? Else, then a OEM spare parts dealer in your city.

If not this, then guess you'd have to wait for some time!

Any case, you could contact Hyundai regarding this.

Re: Hi People, problems with getz 1.3!

We have been facing this weird problem with our getz AC. It is a 5 yr old car.
We just got the evaporator replaced and Gas charged.
When ambient temperature is high, the ac runs for about 30 mins and then it starts cutting off after every 5-10 mins.
Surprisingly when the outside temperature is low, the AC chills quite well.
weird, and i guess it might be something with the thermostat or the compressor overloading. Anyone experienced this before?

Is it the same whether you run the A/C on fresh air or recirculate mode.

It sounds like the compressor is overloading and can't handle the load in high ambient temperatures. Get it checked by an AC specialist at the soonest. For the thermostat to cut off, the setting would need to be very close to ambient temperature so seems unlikely though not impossible.

Let us know once you have a specialist look at it. Will be useful information

Re: Hi People, problems with getz 1.3!

Try in this order;
1. Fuel Filter
2. ignition leads
3. Spark Plugs
4. 3m Throttle cleaner 2 sprays near the IAC opening
5. Ground and positive connections (new ones cost about 200 rupees)
6. Air filter
___ if above does not work___

7. Ignition coils
8. Compression test

Before everything try the Italian tune up too.

Also check if you have engine oil consumption , blue smoke as well. My friends gets is smooth and responds well to throttle inputs.

Re: Hi People, problems with getz 1.3!

Most of the problems mentioned have been covered well in the responses already. I would like to add,
(i) Get the spark plugs and the connecting cables checked/replaced - Costs Rs.450 per cable and Rs.54.14 per plug.
(ii) Check streering ball joint, it adds to the clattering sound while driving on rough road, costs Rs.7000 for a new one
(iii) Upgrade to high profile tyres for better ride
(iv) High speed stability and manuevering capability is not a problem with Getz, you need to check if wheel alignment/balancing is required or if the tyres have been re-done (retreading) due to which it may be losing the balance.
