Re: Some quality niggles & Issues in Fiat Punto

I have been looking for suspension parts for almost a year now for my Punto. It was under warranty then. Have contacted all 3 authorized service centers - Lexus, RD and KB. Each time the car was taken in for repairing with the parts being unavailable. Don't understand why when I clearly told them that suspension is the reason the car is being given for maintenance. Have written to Fiat India thrice but haven't got any response from them. The shockers are dead, which I feel is putting a lot of strain on the car. Can anybody help with this - an e-mail or a phone number which can help me in procuring the necessary parts quickly or any other way to go about it. I am clueless.

Thank you guys! Found the details. Will update once I hear something from them. Have been following team-bhp since forever but just too lazy to post or look up for help even though I know it is the best place for any assistance. Old habits!!

Off late I am hearing dull grinding noise when turning the steering.
Like "stretched metal springs getting plucked" kind of sound.
Any ideas?
@downldtolive - I have the same issue with mine. How did you get your problem resolved? Did you have to change strut pads ?

Yes, the strut pads(?) got changed. Done under warranty. I will post the exact name of the part changed. It was done for both the front wheels.

I was lazy to take the car for 2nd servicing after 2 year period was over. Late by a week. That meant that I was supposed to pay for these (around 5K) as warranty was declared to be over.

However I had that Rs 1 extended warranty which they were giving 2 years ago. That covered it.

I recommend every prospective car buyer to go for extended warranty.

Yeah the extended warranty covers the suspension parts but it is conditional and is valid till 35k kms are completed. Read the extended warranty booklet.

Sent an e-mail to fiat but was of no use. I doubt if they have the parts at all. This is the 3rd time I am placing the order for the same parts, each time from a different dealer and over a period of 6 months.

Had happened once to me also. Rear right door. Take it to the service centre. Most probably it will be some cable loose which they will tighten. Else they will change the unit as they did for me.

The issue has been solved. It was a loose coupler. It was under warranty and hence the bill amount was zero.

BUT, Fortune Motors has started charging Rs. 120/- for job card entry! That's a little hard to digest. My car is in warranty and it has an issue. So, ideally I should not be paying anything for it. It is their responsibility to make the job card, why should I pay for it?

Interestingly, on the job card, they write "Consumables = Rs. 120/-"!!! When I asked what consumables are being used for my car, they admitted that it is actually job card entry fees. This clearly indicates that it is malpractice, else why would they write 'consumables'? I dint make a big issue out of it as these guys are in very good terms with me & gives me excellent service & I did not want to fight with them for 120 bucks.
