@amit: Synthetic oil in a bike can induce clutch slippage.
Moreover, 10W40 might not be fully-synthetic. Its most probably semi-synth.

I have gone through the engine oil bible and other threads related to the comaprison of synthetic oils vs mineral oils. I have not seen a definite answer on this topic. I have swift petrol nearing 20k. I have to get the service done in a couple of days. PLZZZ help !!!! recommended oil is 20w40, mobil 1 does not have in this grade. I need some dealer addresses in bangalore for the engine oils.

You can use fully synthetic ,5W50/5W40 grade oil from Mobil1 or Shell Helix Ultra or Castrol EDGE or OWS for the baleno.

Today I've shifted to OWS 5w50 from Mobil1 0w40. Initial impression is quite nice, the engine is revving smoothly and the pickup also seems to be better(mind you, the previous oil was already more then 15k old, so the difference is noticeable). Flushing was done prior to changing the oil.

Synthetics are good for extreme conditions, mostly sub 0 weather, the OCI factor is really not recommended here in India as the driving and dusty conditions play havoc on any oil.

The best results for gas or diesel cars can be obtained by using either Delo400 or Delvac Super and a conservative oil change interval of say 5000 miles. They are also very good value being way lighter on your pocket as well. Synthetics however do wonder to your tranny and there the cost is fully justified, sadly, it is truly hard to get synthetic tranny oil here in India.
So what you are saying is that i can use Delvac Super or Delo400 for my petrol run car as well? Have you tried it on a petrol vehicle.

Need an oil change for my 2002 Hyundai Accent 1.6 DOHC which has clocked 97,000 kms +. Oil is 5000kms + which also bore a rigorous 26 hr (1450km) drive from Mumbai a month back.
Is there any chance I can get Mobil 1 all synthetic extended range oil here in New Delhi?
