VAG-COM Setup needed!

Hi

Since this would be my first time with a VAG-Com, i do not intend to spend 30-40k on a product that i am not well aware of. Though i know how to use the software, i am not very sure if it is compatible with my car. Various reports on other websites mention that even the latest software is not fully compatible and several modules on the chip are not accessible.
Hence, i am thinking of trying out a VAG-Com setup on my car prior to buying one. My sole intention of using a VAG-Com for my car is to activate features which are deactivated by default.

Car make and model: Skoda Laura Elegance 1.9TDI A/T (facelift 2009)
VAG-Com setup required: Latest VCDS software 908.0 and a Micro-CAN or HEX-CAN connector
Location: Mumbai

If anybody in Mumbai has a similar setup and is willing to help me out, i shall be highly grateful.

Cheers!

Could you tell us what these features are?

Also Ajmat might be able to help. Or else, there is always BRISKODA.net - Octavia, Fabia, Yeti, Roomster, Superb Owners - The Skoda Forum and Community !

There are several features which can be activated through Vag-Com. Anandbhat has compiled a limited list of such features here http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ns-thread.html
You can find many more in the forums of Vag-Com on BRISKODA.net - Octavia, Fabia, Yeti, Roomster, Superb Owners - The Skoda Forum and Community
If you're looking for something specific, feel free to ask.
Some of the common ones are:
1) coming home / leaving home lights
2) turning fog lamps / cornering lights
3) activate seat-belt warning light
4) ORVMs heater + dimmer setting
5) activate both fog lights
6) auto lock over 15 kmph
7) anti-hijack
8) increase number of flashes for lane change indicators
9) windscreen washer fluid light, TPMS, etc.
10) needle sweep
11) hazard brake lamps

Last time I drove a Superb, quite a few of those features were available via the service menu.

Yes, they are available through the MFD (a different kind of screen next to speedometer; this one displays text for warnings) on the Superb and the Laura L&K. Laura Elegance does not have MFD (it's got a normal LCD that reads out car info and settings) and hence, you need to connect a computer to activate these features.

What features can be added to the Superb that aren't already there via the MFD?
Most of the features mentioned above are already active.

Beware! Please do all the digging you need to do before using this software.

As you can mess up your car and its ECU pretty badly, As this software/hardware combo is in tune with the actual hardware that VW and their dealer themselves uses.

Oh! My bad. The Superb and Laura L&K have MaxiDOT displays while Elegance and Ambiente have normal MFDs. All these features are accessible through MaxiDOT but not the normal MFDs.

Sahil, i don't know much about additional features for the Superb as i am not reading any material on that. But you can check out Briskoda.net . AFAIK, no.8 and no.11 are not available through service menu of MaxiDOT. So, you can edit those via Vag-COM.

SirAlec, thanks for the advice. I reckon that anybody who has bought this software will have knowledge about it. Else, we can always find tons of info at Briskoda.
