Oil change..Synthetic, where to source

All Bangalore experts,
Can you advice me about which oil I should go for my Petra,
Mannual says 15W40.

Shell Helix is available only in 15W50. I could not find Mobil 1 15W40, any one know where can I buy this in Bangalore?

Is there a better oil?

Thanks for help in advance

Hi DRC

I have a Palio GTX and am currently using Shell Helix Ultra fully synthetic 15w50 and I have no problems.

Even though the manual says 15w40, you can use 15w50. I read it on the Shell website that these numbers denote the min and the max air temprerature these oils will ideally perform in.

If you want to find out the dealer in B'lore you can email Shell from their Indian website and they will give you the details.

Strangely, M-I is very common here in north so I was amazed when Rudra told me that it is hard to get in Bangalore, I would think it would be otherwise, OTOH, Helix is hard to find in Delhi and north-wards. 15W-50 is just fine for Bangalore weather and hard driving, thats what I use from M-I on my Accord, as a stop gap measure HDEO oils like Delo 400 and Delvac MX also do excellent work in engines, performance is pretty close to synthetics at half the cost.

I got the oil change done with Shell Helix ultra, 15W50, Rs550/l
Its really good.

Gone is the harsh revving sound, now revvs silky smooth.
The temp is also lower, engine runs much cooler. There used to be a shudder when I demand power during lower rpm, The dealer ship had told me it is normal as at lower revs, the cams shafts starve of oil (dunno how much true), now surprisingly that is gone!!!

overall, a very good oil!!

Unfortunately, I am not able to hear the difference in my car. Every time I rev, I can only hear my free flow exhaust rasping!

But, yes some how feel the car is a little smoother and the mileage is up a bit.
