Over revving MPFI Zen Engine( revv limiter doesnt cut at 6000 rpm!!)

Team,

The old Zen (mpfi ) has a revv limiter set at 6000 rpm i.e one cant revv beyond 6000 rpm.

But these days ,my car ( 10 years and 1.75 L kms ) which has been maintained at correct service intervals goes upto 7000 rpm!!!.I didnt dare go beyond that .

Wanted to know from the experts as to why do you think is this happening?

Cheers,

Satya

I do believe rev limiter as a feature of the ECU. But if something got messed up with the ECU you should probably get an error code and a check engine right? I suggest, do get it checked from the A.S.S

Did you change your battery, or reset the ECU in any way? Some ECUs follow a "learning" curve after being reset. Here is a related thread.
