Re: Axle problem - Honda Accord (new shape)

BHP - I have a feeling that it's this dealer who is trying to take you for a ride. Have you had any communication from Honda directy that they will not change it under warranty? Based on what you mentioned, I think all communication is through the dealer. Most likely, the dealer is trying to get 50% of cost from you (earlier 100%) and then claim the warranty replacement from honda. With 50% goodwill discount, the dealer won't return the old axle to you and as they need that to claim warranty.

I have not had any direct experience with honda cars, but based on my known one's experience, this is very unlikely of Honda (OEM not dealer) to refuse the axle claim on a 25k km's used Accord. Did you check another honda A.S.S yet?

Re: Axle problem - Honda Accord (new shape)

I have emailed the honda customer care twice and have never got a reply back from them yet..it seems they wanna convey all the messages to me verbally on the phone via the service station (solitaire honda).

I am not willing to pay the 50% cost of the axle + labour.

The following attachment has been send to me from iffco tokio insurance saying bearings not covered when claimed under extended warranty.

But the extended warranty doesnt mention anything like this for the axle at all.
Attached Files
File Type: pdf Part not covered under Extended Warranty.pdf (557.1 KB, 456 views)

So BHP how was this finally resolved? How has the overall service experience with Honda been since then.

Hi ACM,

The part was finally repaired at a local axle specialist. Cost me only rs 5500/- and a 6 month warranty was provided.

Bearings were changed.

Its been over 2 years and 18000 kms since the axle was repaired and no problems have been faced.

Overall no problems with the car. Just goes for routine service once a year since its not clocking too many kilometres.

Any good independant work shop can get the issue fixed. Just look up the team bhp directory and find a workshop close to you. Bhpian Jatin Patel (wagen Workz) could be of assitance to you. Look him up in the t-bhp directory.

Good Luck.
