Re: Does anyone buy a Honda City anymore?! Oops! I did-and fell in love with it!!

All those facing the problem of glare can use polarised glasses rather than putting a film. It works out to be cheaper and no issues of law looking at you with contempt.
Buy a pair with very light shade or best would be colourless.
I have been using it and found it to be very effective.
In fact it improves visibility while driving in rain, fog etc.

Hello charthom,

Nice to see you back online. Happy new year to you too. The roads in egypt seem to be excellent. How is your city doing in India? Did your wife go for any more upgrades to the car in your absence?

I managed to get hold of my Vento 3 months back.

My car had the 15k kms service today, check out the report.

Is anyone following up on your City's maintenance schedules?
Hi Libran,

Nice to hear from you. Thanks for the wishes,Mate. So your beauty is 15000 km old! Matured up,I believe Will check up the report.

Of course my wife is very punctually taking care of the services. 6 monthly service done-oil changed. I remember you were really worried about the oil change during my 3 monthly service.

My wife is just loving driving the City. She is overjoyed and thoroughly impressed. She is trying to drive it as much as she can-her health having improved now.

Best wishes to you too mate.

Of course,Mate. I had been using polarised glasses coupled with anti glare film for my night drives for the last 6 months. Quite helpful.

Hello Prabhu,

Nice to hear from you too.

I guessed about your Vento from Nilesh's thread-he had mentioned you could not joined the photo shoot.

Congrats for the car-mate. How is it? Diesel or petrol? Colour? Do you have a thread? And finally, how's Volkwagen service?

My City is doing a fabulous job.As mentioned above-my wife is really enjoying the ownership experience. And taking good care of the car too.

Yes,she had the seats shampooed. The leather got discoloured by some cloth!!

Here in Turkey too-the roads are very good. Could venture out only once-I am too busy. It is a well develpoed country with all brands of cars. Will try to post some snaps.

Enjoy the fresh wind(vento) Prabhu.

Re: Does anyone buy a Honda City anymore?! Oops! I did-and fell in love with it!!

Friends,

Just check out these objects of desire which I procured last month from Walmart at Galveston,Texas,USA.

1.A Multy pattern spray nozzle for washing the car.

2.A PVA drying skin which gives an absolutely spotless drying

3.a drying water blade. They claim that it would dry the car in 1/3rd the normal time in one pass.

I have been using the Absorber for the last 8 years and am amazed.Others- hope to try out when I reach back home. Will post my experiences then.

Any similar objects to share?!

^^ Nice set of accessories.

Have you reached Texas or you ordered these things from a store there?

Btw, you should also pick up a multi-purpose tool kit; which has everything from all spanners to jumper cables etc.

Libran,

Great that you liked them.

Yes,I had visited 2 ports in USA-Galveston,Texas and Boston, Massachusetts.

Other ports were Rotterdam-Netherlands,Montreal-Canada,Veracruz-Mexico and Alexandria-Egypt.Now at Tuzla bay in Turkey-we are in repair dock.

Yes-tool kit is an excellent idea. But unfortunately our luggage allowance is often limited at 40 kg. After buying utensils and fancy stuff for the Missus, where we will get the space?

The best remedy-turn your wife into an auto enthusiast-which is what I am trying to achieve. and I am almost there

Hope your lovely is extra sexy after the 15000 service.

Wooohooo... welcome back Charthom. Good to see you and happy new year!

While you were away, I have been experimenting with something after the detailing on my car. The best way to preserve the car is to dust it and not clean it regularly. Water causes more problems. I haven't washed the car more than once since I got it detailed (Yup, even after rains). I only wash the wheel wells and tyres. The secret - Collinite 845 + a simple duster worth 1000 bucks!

What I wanted to type was "Master" -I mistyped.

One doubt-if the car is really dirty after say a long drive-will not the dusting
cause scratches? How do you maintain the glasses?

Pl enlighten how to use the combo of colinite+duster effectively. Any special techniques to wash and dry the duster after dusting?

One more querry. Can we replace the ORVMs of present City with the ORVMs with turning indicators of New City?

Mods-hope this is not considered as a back to back post.If so pl merge with the above.Thanks.

The real trick is to ensure that there is a good sealant and polish on the body and duster should do the job. For really stubborn dirt and grime, you will need a shampoo to loosen the dirt and wipe it off gently. For normal bird droppings etc, I use ONR (Optimum No Rinse, obtained from Ultimate Detailerz). It's a very diluted chemical that is safe for paints I believe. I spray it on the affected area and give it about a minute to break the dirt down, then a simple wipe with micro fibre towel and the stubborn dirt is gone! With these things, I do not see washing swirls on my car as it used to on my Santro. Remember I got the City detailed and since then applied a good polish and now collinite 845 (2 layers). This ensures that nothing really "sticks" to the paint. If you wipe the towel down, then it will just glide. This does need some maintenance - every 2 months or so, perhaps every 1 month in monsson, but its working out for me. I use Colin for the glasses and a dirt and grime breaker for the wheels. Spray and give it about 30 seconds, light brush using a bottle cleaner type brush and then wash it out. All 4 wheels done in 5 minutes.

for the mirrors, I didn't check, but will find out. But the way mirrors get bashed up in city's I am not very keen on getting it. Further, honda parts are insanely expensive! The tail lamps cost 2400 a piece!!!

I am more inclined to get the angel eyes... see this pic

Sudeep-it is hard work I have to admit. Not sure if a lazy *** like me would take all the pain. Better to hand over the Absorber to the boy and have the car washed But wait a minute-I can do better!!

Re: Does anyone buy a Honda City anymore?! Oops! I did-and fell in love with it!!

Facing a weird issue with the iPod connectivity on my ANHC. I have been driving playing songs with this iPod ( 5th Gen iPod Video) since the last 6 months . Since yesterday, i am getting an error on the player "OLD VERSION" . I know some ipod models are incompatible, but this is strange since this was working fine till yesterday.

Hi KAP04, I faced this issue with my Iphone (after I upgraded to IOS5), I wanted to check with SA the reason. But the issue vanished when

Removed the cable from headset, did a reboot of Iphone connected it back and then did a power on.

After this I never faced any issue, but when my friend tried using his Iphone 3GS it popped up again.

Do you power off the headset before removing/inserting POD? I noticed if we plugin when it's on we see this issue. It's just my observation, not consistent though. Just give it a try,

I charged the ipod using my laptop and I connected it back in the car. Presto! Now it's working like before... :-)

Raghu, did u mean I should have tried switching off the HU while connecting the ipod?

Hello friends,

I had a similar problem with iPhone/ Bose sound dock combination. Upon connecting to the Bose the new iPhone gave a message-"This device is not compatible with this version of iPhone"(quoting from memory). After unplugging, this message began displaying on the iPhone screen at random, without having been plugged again. It worried my wife-who thought the iPhone had become defective. Then we realized that recently we were charging the iPhone through the sound dock only. We plugged the iPhone into a normal charger-the problem immediately vanished.

So if the problem persists just connect the iPhone to another charger,it should reset.

Hope you two are having a great time with your cars. Enjoy your music!!

Regards,

charthom.
