re: Diesel Power - My BMW 320D Exclusive - BMW Performance Power Kit Installed - Pg. 23

The Laura is great and all, but I'd still take the Bimmer.

*flips-page*

No wait..

I don't like the wheels Akshay, I'm going to be honest with you. Leave it as it is, or get the optional M-wheels that come with the kit, that looks pretty good. Not the obscenely large ones. The 17" kit, if I'm not wrong

Yes I'm still keeping the Accord, thats not going anywhere. All 3 cars are different and great in their own way, which I will describe in my review, in a few days.

Back to the topic of the 3, I'm missing the torque surge after 2 days of using the RS. Man the 3s handling is just brilliant, and never fails to surprise me though the runflats are a big disappointment in terms of handling.

Ah! She is home eh? Under the angel in white guise is the devil in black.
Many a congrats Akshay. The ultimate driving machine, the victor rocket and the accord, now that is a garage. Guess all you need is a mid engined sports car ( as impractical as they might be in Mumbai) to make it complete.

Have a blast. Look forward to seeing the beauty in one of the Mumbai meets.

re: Diesel Power - My BMW 320D Exclusive - BMW Performance Power Kit Installed - Pg. 23

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but have a question for akshay1234 and anybody else who has done any kind of research on the BMW performance kit for the 320d.

My car is apparently not compatible with the performance kit. At the most, I can install the exhaust.

My question - Is it worth getting the exhaust alone?

As far as I know the kit is compatible with your car which is the 177bhp car. I think the part numbers are different for the ecu but it is very much compatible. Do find out again.

Getting the exhaust alone will not make a difference, its only an end can.

re: Diesel Power - My BMW 320D Exclusive - BMW Performance Power Kit Installed - Pg. 23

The attachment which you had uploaded (I had received the same from BMW) shows the Performance power kit as relevant to cars produced from march 2010 onwards. I bought my car in August 2009.

According to Realoem.com, my car was manufactured in 04/2009.

Against the exhaust, it just says relevant to 320d/N47.

Those are some awesome pics dude. What camera is this?

There is a different kit from 03/97-03/10 for the 130kw engine, the power increases to 145kw and torque to 390nm.

BMW UK: Owner area - Genuine BMW Accessories

Just search here you should find it.

Nikon D300, with basic photoshop editing like contrast and all . I'm sure if a pro edited these they would come out much better, I doubt I use more than 20% of the cameras potential.

My plan was to get the entire power kit and keep the car for another year or two. But the incompatibility of the power kit with my car dented this plan. I then thought of getting the exhaust box alone which has not been recommended by experts on this forum. The price too is way too expensive compared to BMW prices elsewhere.

Now eagerly awaiting the launch of F30 with bigger diesel engines. 325d or even 330d will be just superb!

The F30 with diesel engines is still far away. There is a kit that is compatible with your car, believe me. Just email one of the BMW UK dealers and get the part numbers, once you have those the Indian dealer cannot say anything. Why not just get the kit minus the exhaust, and get another end can say maybe from BMS tuning UK which is one third the price of the BMW performance one.

re: Diesel Power - My BMW 320D Exclusive - BMW Performance Power Kit Installed - Pg. 23

4000km Update

The car finished 4000kms a few days ago, and still continues to impress me. The 3 is an absolutely stunning handler. People who sit in this car, will think you are about to kill them with the corner coming up at the speed you are doing. But the car turns in exactly where you tell it to and goes through the corner without any drama whatsoever, sticking like a leech to the tarmac.

It is the most nimble car I have driven yet, and that says a lot. I think the car is due for a service this month, at least the iDrive was telling me. But I am not complaining that it is sooner than expected because I'm not paying a dime for anything. BSI is good. I expect the car to become much more silent after the engine oil is changed, also have a couple of tiny niggles, that most cars have, which need to be sorted out like the drivers door sometimes takes a harder push than normal to close.

The engine is opening up nicely, and it is actually pretty quick though it doesn't feel so. It reaches high speeds without you knowing it since even with music at a low volume you don't hear the engine and also the car is so stable you fail to realise what your velocity is. The torque kick is still addictive and I keep flooring it in 2nd to get that push from 30-60kmph. Though its never enough, I want the power kit asap.

As for the run flats, I wish I had changed them at the time of delivery. The ride is just too hard on bad roads. Its not something that should stop you from buying the car but it can get irritating at times. Normal tubeless would have improved that a fair amount.

Also a cabbie managed to reverse into the front of the car (only cabbies can do such things) and dented and took the front no. plate right off. It left a scratch behind where the plate was. I was honestly surprised there was no dent on the car considering the speed the fool reversed at. Anyway so now there is no frame for the front plate since the screw holes got messed up with the screws being pulled out with the frame. So I ordered a new plate and stuck it with double sided 3M tape.

Also the Laura review is up with pics
