Well, 2500 rpm I guess got stuck in my mind reading somewhere in the Vento thread. Guess if 4000 rpm is specified for Polo, could may be rev a bit more than I currently do. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers!

Re: Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6

Congrats on your handsome car my friend ! Somehow I missed your ownership thread till now , thanks for dropping the note
With the great 1.6 l engine you should not look at the mileage - not so fast at least .
Wish you many many happy miles .
BTW, I saw that you are unhappy with the speed activated auto lock , I am not sure whether your dissatisfaction is due to it not being enabled. It can be enabled in Polo ( and Vento) through the ECU , please get in touch with your service centre .

On the max rpm , I guess its more important that you do variable rpms i.e do not hold it at a certain position for long . IMO its better not to go beyond 2500-3000 rpm for the first 1000 km - better to play it safe

Re: Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6

Update at 350km.

FE at city hovers around 12 -14.5 in city driving (with Ac on)

It is pure a fun to drive car even in city!
Downshifts are not required too often, the car pulls decently even at low RPMs. It is fast, very fast, but you just don’t feel it.
Humps are not an issue at all, can negotiate even in 3rd gear.

Need to get the used to the gears. It slots very neatly, but the gates are placed very close to each other, which sometimes confuses if you are in 4th instead of 2nd and 1st instead of 3rd.
The engine hood tends to get heated and I guess it is normal in the Polo's.

Awaiting to cross the 1000km mark to test of what the car is actually capable of doing!

Cheers!

Great feeling, loving every moment when behind the wheels! Couldn't drive much as was on travel for some days.

Kms done: 950
Average FE 10.5 -12 km/l ( in city with 90% a/c)
FE 15.8 km/l (highway with 100% a/c)

No upgrades yet, got the sports seat covers from VW (part of the accessory deal, but was given only a month later).
Never crossed the 3000 rpm till date!

Pending: To activate the features that seem deactivated.

Some pics for the update.

Those seat covers look superb . BTW , I love the fog lamps of the Polo, they look way better than the round ones of the Vento . The other day I saw a Polo ( a white one ) which had very bright fog lamps (lenses I suppose) , it was looking awesome. The fogs ensured good brightness on the road without causing discomfort to incoming traffic.

The VAS activated features are nice ones , specially the speed activated auto lock and unlock on taking out ignition key.

Re: Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6

Crossed the 1000 km milestone today! Would await the 1500 km and restrict the rpm to 3000.

Cheers!

Re: Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6

Hi Volkman10. These are really good mileage figures for a 1.6l car. Cant wait for next month when ill be picking up a white 1.6 Polo myself.

Wanted some info about the car seats, was planning to get the same design for myself as well. Does it go well with the internal decor of the car. Or would a plain beige/black look better in it.

Is there any chance of you being able to post clear/higher resolution pics of the seat covers in your car. Thanks.

Had taken the sports option of the seat covers offered by VW. It comes in a dual tone of beige and black. I am not aware if any other colors are available in the sports version( split type).

Will do so for the pics maybe tomorrow.

Cheers!

Hot-looking hatch, and nice review! Can you please post the F.E. using full-tank to full-tank method? The MFI display in most cars tends to be a wee bit exaggerated.

Lovely write up Volkman.
The 1.6 looks hot in White. You're FE figures are impressive too.

The color and design of the seats complement the interiors of the car.

2. Audible feedback when locking
3. Automatic unlocking when removing ignition key
