Hey i see you have a mobile/GPS holder mounted on the dash.
That is the ideal place to get it mounted. But I ve repeatedly failed to get anything held there as the surface is neither flat to hold a suction cup nor wide enough to hold a adhesive mount disc.
Can i get to see a better pic of the holder you are using, also how does it stay there? adhesive?
Thanks. Yes they are massive!!

The holder I have is a pretty cheap one (300 bucks) but has been serving me well for the last three months. Its attached using the stock suction (no adhesive) which surprisingly is holding well regardless of road conditions. I have removed it once or twice, last being during the 1000kms service. Only issue is that the mechanism of expanding has got a bit messed up, but doesnt affect the holding capability of the holder.

Its pretty bright and probably as bright as it can get. Its a simple removal of the stock bulb and inserting this one. However to note is that this SMD is around half a cm shorter than the stock ones, because of which you need to bend the connectors a bit for it to sit. No messing with any wires though.

Re: Beat It...no, not the Michael Jackson way! (Chevrolet Beat)

Thanks for pics Superutp!
From the pics on the last page, i thought it was mounted on the dash on the international Beat's MID area.

I was looking for something that would mount on the dash. Couldn't find anything that worked. So finally did a little DIY with a plastic disk and 3M double sided tape.

Here it is, holding my PSP. Has been doing a good job till then.
But sadly ,my GPS is not able to pick up signal mounted on it, so it still has to cling on to a glass

Ahh, I get what you mean. I feel stupid now

Maybe this is what you are looking for

BTW, the place where my holder finally holds my Phone is exactly at the MID place (especially in landscape mode), resulting in good vision of both navigation and the road.

Re: Beat It...no, not the Michael Jackson way! (Chevrolet Beat)

Hi,

Lovely write up.
Those DRls look massive!

I would definitely recommend changing to wider alloys. I think mine are 5.5 or 6j, I remember them being under the specified limit. That way, even the grip levels should increase from the A-Drives.
Any change in FE after fitting the tyres?

I really envy the night look of your car .

And black does look beautiful. I understand it would take special care. But here in Delhi, Black is just not an option. That's because the guy who washes the car in the morning always uses a dirty cloth, no matter how much I plead!! Resulting in swirl marks due to the heavy dust layer (being Delhi).

Anyhow, I wish you a late congratulations, and a happy ownership of your "Black Metal"!

Do keep us updated on the Alloys!

Cheers and drive safe.

Thanks a lot for reading my ownership thread

Wider rims are definitely on the cards, even better would be 6J alloys to really improve the stance with the wider tyres.
FE, well its too early to tell however I doubt the 20mm upgrade in rubber (as compared to 40mm in your case) has made much of a difference going by current calculations. But I do feel that once I have wider rims on, the contact patch increases and the effect will be felt more (both in terms of more grip and drop in FE)

Regarding the colour, Black looks all shiny and glossy but its probably the biggest pain in the *you know what* to maintain as you said. I literally struggle to keep the car clean and the multitude of swirl marks and minor scratches visible in close inspection is highly depressing Like Delhi, Bangalore is also the dust capital!

For the problem of swirl marks, I would suggest going in for Eagle One Nanotechnology based wax. And it seems to take care of minor scratches as well.
I use it too.
I am also going to experiment with Turtle Wax for Metallic paint and Formula One Carnuba Wax. Will let you know the results.
BTW, I did apply the Turtle Wax on Sunday. But it started raining 5 mins after, so had to remove it ! It is supposed to be kept until it hazes on to the surface (takes about 2 hours or so).
And it is commendable that in those 5 mins also, the wax did provide a nice sheen. Although some swirl marks remained as it wasn't kept till hazing .

Cheers.

Re: Beat It...no, not the Michael Jackson way! (Chevrolet Beat)

Heart breaking news about my Black Metal. My parked Beat got hit by a Red Jazz which was turning into my Apartment. If you see from my first post, my parking spot is insanely tight and such an incident was bound to happen.

Luckily the person driving the Jazz came to my flat and informed me about the incident. Need to go to the A.S.S and get an estimate.

Anybody knows how much this will cost and what repair it involves?? I dont want to claim insurance because I don't think its a major damage.

Pics below:

The damage :(

The damage on the Jazz (the dent is deeper than it looks)...not that I care

Hey it looks worse than it really is.
Shouldn't cost you more than 1000 to 1500 bucks for painting the entire bumper.

Although I am a little late to reply to this
I hope your car is fixed now.

Any other updates?

Sam

It ended up costing 6k (3k +3k for two panels), luckily I paid nothing, the girl who side scrapped my car paid the full amount. The details of the repair job is here

Apart from that, no updates, no mods planned owing to some uncertainties regarding where Ill be based for my professional pursuits.

However, I see that you are making up for the lack of updates on my Beat, but pimping up your T-Rex even more Will continue that topic on your thread.

Re: Beat It...no, not the Michael Jackson way! (Chevrolet Beat)

Hi superutp... Awesome thread with nice writeup !!
nevertouchme's pics of your meetup at Varthur is simply mindblowing !! I work in Whitefield and hopefully, I cud catch up with you guys sometime soon.

I have a quick question which I couldn't find out in any of samarth.bhatia, alstonlobo, salbin, jeganatu or GTO's review threads. Hope to get some advice from you.

Crazy it seem, but I badly need the Chevy golden bow-tie logo on the horn pad. I have been asking the Kropex, Trident guys since the last ~2 years, but its a No each time.
It was shown as a standard fitment in various TV/Print ads. However, when I booked my Green Bolt (March 2011), it wasn't there. Now I see it in the TCDI models. So rushed to the showrooms to get my horn pad replaced with the one with the golden bow-tie, but the guys refused stating that the TCDI had EPS and mine was only a PS, hence the build of horn-pads was diff.
I am slowly going into depression with the in-ability to get the golden bow-tie horn pad in my GB.

Now, I observe that your Black Metal has the Golden Bow-Tie.
My questions is: Where, how, when did u get it ? How much isn't apt

OMG! It took me 3 months to see & reply your post

Thanks for reading my dead thread.

Unfortunately I have no idea about where to source the logo on the steering wheel. Mine came standard.

Which model is yours? Mine is a Dec 2011 Petrol LT, and as far as I know they started providing the golden logo in the LT model of Petrol (The LT (O) has a different black background logo) after the Diesel one was launched.

So both Petrol & Diesel LT's have the logo.

PS: I may let you have the bow-tie on my horn pad if you make a decent offer to me. Bidding starts at 1 million dollars

Not to rub salt on Soumyajit9's wound, but even PS version of diesel beat comes with golden bowtie on steering

Eeeeee... If I would have had that money, I would have placed an order directly to Chevy to exclusively build one for me, probably with my initials embossed into it. Heeeheeeheee

That's not just salt, that's direct fire into my heart that the Diesel Beat comes with the golden bowtie. I saw that during my timepass test drive of the car. Why Chevy isn't offering the same on Petrol models is still a suspense.
