re: My All New 2012 VW Jetta Highline - MT

Note from the Team-BHP Support Staff: Post deleted. Please do not discuss extremely high and illegal speeds reached on this forum. We promote safe driving practices. The point that the Jetta is stable at high speeds has been made.

@Reventon: It would be worthwhile for you to chek if any windows had a miniscule gap (slightly rolled down) which is the most common source of wind noise - else get it cheked at the service station.
I made sure that the windows were rolled up all the way. This is not a loud noise, infact you will have to listen very hard to even notice. It's gonna be hell trying to convince the guys at the service center that this is something that needs to be looked into.

Jetta is a v solid german & a couple of my friends who have the old jetta / passat are very happy with the quality. While it has been a short while for me but as of now no regrets. The build & ride quality, engine, gearbox - everything is top notch. This particular issue (creaking) is because of the cladding they have provided on the doors for insulation & IMHO in our dry / dusty conditions looks like it needs some added support to remain quite
Couldn't agree with you more. With the exception of Laura (similar interior quality to Jetta IMO), no other car from this segment comes even remotely close to Jetta in terms of built quality and fit and finish. Infact, the car feels more premium than it is.
For some reason, the creaks stopped. No matter what i did, there wasn't even a slight noise.

All the more to opt for the Jetta instead of the Laura isn't it? The Laura, though a great car feels slightly under powered compared to the Jetta. Thanks to the Extra 30 horses which the Laura doesn't provide in the Diesel MT.

By the way, What's your ODO reading reventon?

Congrats Reventon. That’s an awesome piece you’ve acquired. For me, the best part of the HL Jetta is the beautiful alloys (in comparison with CL trim). Keep updating on the ownership experiences.
Happy driving!

re: My All New 2012 VW Jetta Highline - MT

That is one beautiful car and a sweet deal you got! A lot of us that were treated similarly by VW in the pre-sales process (mosty for the Vento) had nothing to show at the end of it except a long wait! 90K is great. I agree with vb-san: the HL is a much better looker than the CL: those killer alloys and smoked headlamps are to die for.

Nealy 20 lac OTR is a lot of money considering the Vento HL is about half of that. With the looks of all the new VWs converging more or less, it is becoming hard to differentiate between their various offerings, especially since Skoda offers the Laura at a much more competitive price point. But the 140 BHP tuned engine with an MT to boot (not offered in the Laura) is an irresistable combination and I for one don't think the climatronic omission is a big deal (as long as the AC cools!)

Congrats on your buy and do keep updating your thread!

Thanks noopster. It's a honor to hear from you.

LAURA was our first choice but they need to do something drastic about their attitude towards customers. They treated us like we were just wasting their time. Plus, rear seat leg room on the Jetta helped very much in its favor.

The first time i saw the new Jetta in flesh, even i was a little disappointed with the vento resemblance (only from the front) but as i spent a little more time with the car, the looks started to grow on me. In fact, i think i love the front profile more than anything else now! Now, i can't help but turn over to look at the car just one more time, every time i walk away from it. And like you mentioned, as long as the AC works, i don't really care about ACC.
Overall, i am extremely happy with the buy. Plus the fact that when you see a million cruzes and lauras on the street, you only see a handful on the new Jetta and it makes you feel a little special (don't know how long this would last).

Re: My All New 2012 VW Jetta Highline - MT

Just a random question. Pardon me if this has been discussed elsewhere.

Has anyone tried to program the ORVMs to close automatically upon locking the car? I'm planning to visit the showroom tomorrow and wanted to see if they could do it for me.

Yeah this has been discussed. I had asked the workshop guys to do that for me but as it turns out, it's not possible on the Jetta . They said only the passat top end variant has that feature. Still you could try!

Thanks for the info. Like you said, i'll try my luck regardless. Did you decide on the DRLs yet?

Nope... DRLs are on hold right now due to certain turn of events. There's a high probability that I may shift out of town for around 2 years during which I won't be able to be with the Jetta (this hurts me A LOT) . Dad will be using it if I go and he isn't fond of such mods.

I'm sorry to hear that. Might actually work out to your advantage and may be you can go for the newer headlamp assembly.

I took the car to the service center yesterday to take care of the creaking. Happy to report that its been fixed. I did ask them for the spray you recommended but sadly they didn't have it in stock. Also, they did acknowledge that there is a bit of wind noise seeping into the cabin but i couldn't get it fixed because i was hard pressed for time. I am planning to take it back another day when i can spare some time.
