Re: 10-day-old Laura: First problem discovered.

Check for the rubber mudguard behind the front tires. Mine has come off one of the hooks and it rubs against the tire. Havent got it repaired yet but it is not harmful as the tire rubber is harder than the mudguard rubber. In any case, this could be a cause.

Yash

If the noise is increasing with accelaration then in all probability it could be the turbo.

It is a sweet noise actually.

Its a whooshing noise, like a low whistle.

Its nothing you should be concerned about.

re: Black Beauty: Skoda Laura. EDIT: 5000 Kms Update

Hi Yash,
Did you happen to hit any pothole / speed breaker and by any chance could have damaged any of the pipes leading to the AC condenser. This can also happen if a stone hits the condenser pipes. Please have it checked at the workshop and they can find out the cause for the air whoosh sound.

It could also be from a defective shock absorber, as the Laura has gas filled shock absorbers and when going over speed breakers, they make an air whoosh sound. A faulty one with a failed seal will create a much louder sound.

Hope that you are able to get the problem diagnosed and resolved quickly.

regards,
Behemoth

Guys thanks for your reply, the car is in their workshop still waiting for the issue to be addressed by them. One of the guys drove the car and said that it could be of some insulation material or something similar. Will update on what exactly the problem was.

Sharing some pics of the car:

You were right

Quick Update Guys:
Got the car from the workshop and it says "LHS SUSPENSION RETOUGH DONE" Guess it was something to do with the suspension. The entire process took 2hr 4 min according to the invoice. Charged Rs. 0 for it

Congrats Y@sh on a brilliant acquisition!

915 is recommended for darker shades while 845 is typically used by people on lighter shades. 915 gives a brilliant deep shine but needs some elbow grease to achieve good results. I use it on my white (yes, White!!) Laura TSI and a coat of 915 always brings a smile to my face!!

5000 Kms Update

The car is running smooth and have had no issues with it, hopefully none in in the future as well!

Have been getting a FE of 10kmpl which is decent considering Mumbai traffic! But I was expecting a bit more.

The car also just came from its first free check-up and the minor issues that had to be addressed were:
-Windshield fogging
-Noise from rear boot (No this wasn't from the parcel tray!)

Also asked the SA to:
-Update the ECM
-Activate Auto-Lock

The car was also topped up with half litre Shell oil (helix I believe)
Total bill was Rs 652 to be precise.

Also attaching few snaps of the exteriors
