Secure is basically an insurance top up. Meaning that for stuff like denting/painting insurance is claimed, and normally the amount that the customer would pay is borne by Secure. So you end up paying nothing. And also the 4 run flat replacements a year, which don't affect your no claim bonus. Now secure is quite expensive, and I personally find its not going to make sense to renew, since anyway I plan on changing the runflats because of the stiff ride, and the 1 lac off premium is not justified in my usage, since I have zero claims till date.
Oh I see. But if one is going to continue with run-flats then I think Secure would be the way to go.
Do you know the price difference between the premiums for Secure and Zero-Dep Insurance?

Even if I have to replace the RFTs there are certain other brands available in the market which are cheaper options, Yokohama is one such which costs only 9k per piece, changing with a tubeless radial will require adding a spare tyre to the boot and then create space constraint, I keep looking for reasons to shift my decision either way once I reach the 20k km mark for my current tyres.
Hey, I don't think 9k figure is correct. It costs around 18k as I was told by the BMW guy. He might be mistaken, but it surely is more than 9k I think.

Secure is not a substitute for insurance, you still have to pay the insurance. Secure is over a lac, I really don't remember how much the insurance cost, I was around 30-40k I think? Zero dep may be a couple of grand more.

I will reconfirm the same, I had enquired it at Reliance Autozone at Ambience mall Gurgaon, Delhiites can check it out.

Wow!! Over a lac you say?
Maybe I won't renew Secure then, Zero-Dep Insurance seems more reasonable.

Here you go!! Sorry for the delay...

This is the space where spare tires are normally kept, but as you can see, its quite small in this car.

I use it to keep the BMW Mobility Kit. (Its not there in the picture.)

Do let me know if you need pictures of anything else in the car.

swopsk..thanks for the pictures

If i am not wrong, the boot can surely hold a spare tyre ?I mean not beneath the panel you have lifted with the hand, but the boot altogether has space to hold a spare wheel . Is it so ?

You can surely keep a spare tire in the boot.
But if you keep a spare tire in the boot, then you have a lot less space to keep your luggage, in case you are traveling long distance.

And it may not be ideal to leave the spare tyre in the boot without properly securing it, which again will need some effort in this case.

Re: BMW 320D Exclusive with GPS & Navigation!

If I see the boot clearly, there are Velcro fasteners lying in the boot well. Use them to fix the Veleur floor mats that come with the car. I hope they did not forget to do so at the time of PDI. Real cool stuff those fasteners are.

Spare wheel is a neat little packet with the jack and choke blocks. You can pick up a luggage compartment net. It helps a lot. Secures a spare wheel on long drives and contents of your shopping cart etc on your city drive. What say?

Hey! I totally forgot about the velcro fasteners!
Will put them up tomorrow itself.
The spare wheel with the package costs something like 25,000 bucks I guess. I didn't find it worth to spend that much.
The luggage compartment net sounds nice, I'll get one soon.
Thank you!

Update:
Its been 2 weeks since I got the car and I have already done 800kms. up till now! 500 kms. were already done in the first 5 days!

One thing I noticed is that if you need fast pick-up from standstill, you need to have the sports mode turned ON, otherwise there is a 1.5 second lag which is normal for most of the automatic cars. But this is when the car is at standstill. The mid range power is awesome!
On highways, even the normal mode is more than enough to overtake most of the other cars! This kind of driving does come with the added costs of fuel! With spirited driving, I am getting a mileage of 8 kms/litre.
But I guess it will increase a lot more with normal driving.

I had read somewhere that in BMW cars, the Traction Control cuts in a bit late to let you have some fun, and I must say that its true!

All in all, this is really a Driver's car and I enjoy driving it at all times.
There is not a single dull moment while driving this car!

I must thank all the Team-BHP members who bought this car and posted such awesome reviews of it, because that's what convinced me to buy this car over the new Audi A4!

Hi there. I'm a little late in this thread but congratulations on your buy. I didn't see this paint in flesh but also didn't expect it to have this shade of blue. It's good.

Post your general ownership points as time passes. Enjoy.

Late reply, I just noticed this. Perhaps this post might be of help.

FlyingSpur..thanks for the link. I checked the post and you are right !!!

There is more than enough space to hold a spare in the boot. And i think it can be fastened securely using fish net type fasteners..right ?

Thanks a lot dude!

Update:
Had my first unfortunate incident with the car today.
I was taking a three-point U-turn on a somewhat crowded road, and out of nowhere, a scrawny kid on a rusty bajaj chetak came and grazed my front bumper quite hard.
I couldn't do anything more than give him a scowl, since it was a crowded road and he zoomed off into the traffic!

Looks like the BMW Secure plan will get used this year after all!
