Now that you mentioned panel gaps, here is a photo I managed to capture a couple of days ago. Albeit the fact that this is a Scala, the panel gaps are very irregular, some even unacceptable, like the photo I have taken.

Build is good but panel gaps are the only flies in the good ointment. Bonnet and boot lid area have big panel gaps but the Scala in frankmehta's post has a huge gap in the boot lid area which even defeats the one in my Sunny. thoma is spot on about the build
of Nissan cars.

That gap is H-U-G-E. I think these Renault guys are messing up a good product like Scala with huge panel gaps. The gap looks like water would go inside it. Here's mine:

I was speaking about both the built and the fit and finish. The car that met with the accident seemed to have damaged its grill too. But that was an accident either ways. However, I am really having a tough time to choose between an Etios and Sunny (not for me, a friend wants it). The car will be chaueffer driven ( I know sunny wins by miles here) but toyota's built and reliablity really put the sunny behind. I guess I'll ask him to crash both the test drive cars to a pole and take a call :P

Hey ZMG, The Sunny will be miles ahead in terms of both build + fit & finish. My neighbor has an Etios VD and trust me, He wants to sell it. The interior is very crappy in the Etios. For nearly a price difference of 50k, You get in the Sunny:

Automatic Climate Control
More better sounding HU
Rear AC vents
Stupendous legroom at the rear
Excellent fit & finish of interiors
Better engine (Sunny has 90 HP, Etios has 65 HP only)
Nissan has improved in terms of dealership.
Much better build
High FE
Much better looks (not the best,but still looks better than Etios,Manza,Verito.)
I recommend you the more VFM variant i.e:XL instead of XV.
BTW what variant have you considered for the Etios ? GD or VD ?
Hey,Nissan has equally good reliability as Toyota as both are Japanese.

Thank you very much. the petrol Sunny is a good performer but after driving a mind blowing car like City, The Sunny will feel mediocre. But in terms of quality,The Sunny blows the city into pieces. BTW which model is your city ? 2003,2007 or 2009 ?

The car is actually going to be used by her 70+ grandma. I wanted to know, if you were to rate between the ingress and egress, which one would you go with? This is very important to her. Her grandma is out of the country, hence she cant really leave the choice to her.

Ingress and Egress is good in two cars. It is not so pathetic. I say that the Ingress and Egress in both the cars is pretty same so you won't be dissapointed. The Sunny XL makes most sense.The VD is the top of the line Etios and it has only one wiper blade,center mounted speedometer and very basic nature. Do note that the XL is the middle variant and still it as all the goodies to make the Etios feel 20 years old.

Update: First service done
Work Done: Applying 3M wax polish + underbody coat + repairing dents in the underbody

Engine Oil + Brake Oil + Transmission Oil + Coolant applied

Brakes cleaned. Interiors cleaned and seat covers fully washed.

Wiper mist water also applied.

Tyre pressure checked.

Engine cleaning also done.

Sensors,Camera and full electrical hardware checked.

Radiator Checked.

Steering rack checked and Steering oil was also applied.

Grand Total = Rs 1250

Very happy with the service. Car will arrive tomorrow. Will also upload the service invoice tomorrow.

This is very heartening indeed. Nissan needs more examples of reasonable servicing costs/spare parts costs out there to increase confidence of potential customers (like myself). In my case, the Sunny is a little lower on my shortlist because I'm not bothered by rear-seat space and focusing more on driving manners, in city and on highway

Thanks crazydave. In my case the vehicle had to have good legroom,gizmos etc. If driving manners is your first priority, then try out the Rapid or Linea.
Both have exceptional driving manners.And also they are also feature laden like the Sunny. And also, you can have a look the all new Fiesta diesel. It's one heck of a car with gizmos + driving manners.

Thanks Utopian. And yes the caaar has some big panel gaps but the car in post #32 is very big. It looks like water would go inside the boot.

Here's my pictorial review:

The leather finish in the gear is very grippy and is not very slippery.


The HU gives out decent sound

The headlights are very capable and I am not looking for an upgrade.

There are two lights in the cabin. Good job Nissan.

The speakers gel with the finish f the cabin very nicely. They also crackle when the volume is raised up.

The steering controls are perfectly sized and have a built to last feel to them.

The ORVM and headlamp adjuster switches are differently positioned when compared to other European cars

The seat height adjuster. Works well

The key. Looks better than the ones found in Maruti cars.

The LHS,RHS and the rear A/C vents can be completely closed.
