I desire to own a nano and while casually inquired about Tata Nano in Concorde Motors Pune I got following offers.

Nano LX 2013 Mfd: Rs.1,90,000 whopping Rs.60000 discount
Nano Twist: Rs.2,40,000 on road with discounts

I was initially looking for second hand nano @ Rs.1 lakh. Now price of Nano LX really seems tempting to go ahead. But still I am confused?

The difference of 50K is certainly worth to go for the Twist since the overall fit and finish on it is worth of it in addition to the power steering. Please ensure that Twist PID shows most of the components are 2014 manufactured since my visit at Bangalore KHT motors showed that all the windows are of 2013 make. Do the PID properly and if satisfied go ahead with it. I had zeroed on Twist but thanks to the old parts (at least with the dealer) and a meagre discount of 15K on Bangalore on-road price put me off :Frustrati

Hi sushantr5, Except for the power steering, the Lx and TX models are the same and it is difficult to make out. But i would suggest you go for the TX as the power steering is worth the extra money.

The power steering does make a difference when you are parking and Maneuvering tight spaces/turns. Also the light PS makes the drive a breeze in stop-n-go traffic.

I suggest that you take a test dive of the LX and TX variants and I'm sure you would be more inclined towards the TX at the end of the drives.

Cheers

Thanks PNTLovesNano and kutoos for your suggestions. I will definitely look into this. Nano I am looking as a car for me for city runs. Buying is not necessity as of now but I want to own nano someday. More than me my father wants to drive nano. I hope time has come to buy a Nano. Our current drive is Tata Vista.

Sushantr5: I checked the Pune on-road price and see a discount of nearly 37K on the Twist, and if the same is offered in Bangalore, I would be lapping it up :) And the same boat with you, no need of a new car and same desire as owning it one day and also same drive of father wanting to drive it more than me :) My current drive is Alto.

Dear Nano Owners,

Today I felt as if i was transported back to the early 2000's. I went for refueling my Nano and it got auto-cutoff when the amount was around 503 Rs. Much to the chagrin of the attendant, and his expression, truly a kodak moment.

Just to appease him i had it topped up to 550, and could not go further as it had become almost full to the Brim.

Just cannot get rid of my grin:D. Hope that this is contagious and spills over to my Work front as well.

Cheers

I don't think it is as clear as that. There isn't any difference in fit and finish in the top end models over the last 12 months, so one is paying Rs 50k for just the power steering, and the Rs 190k price makes the 2013 car a great deal if one can do without that one feature. After using the 2013 car a year, I would buy it again with no regrets, except having "lost" Rs 50k! It is a brilliant city car - though it also did very well on one drive to Goa with one passenger and light luggage.
Or, wait a year, and the PS car may be for the 190k price!
I would not worry about date of part manufacture at all. Except for tyres and batteries, perhaps, the rest aren't like milk and vegetables. Besides with a 4 year warranty, why worry?

sushantr5: I was in the exact same boat about an year back in Aug 2013. I didn't find any used nano in good condition. I was instead offered a Sept 2012 manufactured Nano CX for 1.8l. Twist was not launched at that time, so it was a bit easier for me to take a decision :D. I bought the CX and have never repented the decision. There were few niggles, but nothing that could not be covered under warranty.

I guess you should test drive both to decide if you would like to pay the premium for power steering.

Hi Guys,
I am the owner of a Feb 2012 Nano LX. Top of the line and with all additional accessories fitted by me after purchase like original Tata alloys, original Tata stereo (same as in new 2014 model but no BT), 3M film on all windows and windscreens, 3M underbody protection, Pioneer speakers on specially made rear shelf, reverse sensors, Phillips Night vision headlight bulbs, Skoda type horn, carpet lamination, original door guards and bumper protectors etc. etc. Total cost : Rs. 2,60,000.00.
My car has run only 8500 Kms.
Now I am being offered the new Twist for Rs. 2,56,000.00 (I notice on this thread that some folks in Bangalore are being offered the car for 2,40,000 so I will have to bargain further) and Tatas are willing to buy back my current Nano at a price of Rs. 1,80,000.00.
I have done a short test drive and am very impressed with the power steering. The salesman said that suspension has also been improved. It felt better to me but can anyone confirm? Brakes also felt better. Power delivery felt better and engine noise seemed less. Maybe my imagination.
He also claimed that the BHP has been bumped up to 38bhp.
First Nano was 32bhp. 2012 Nano was 35bhp. Now he says 2014 Nano is 38bhp. Can anyone confirm this?
Now my question is whether it is worth while to take them up on the exchange deal?
My wife is having some issues with her shoulder and sometimes struggles with the steering. For that reason alone I would not mind going for the deal.
On the other hand I am not at all happy with their after sales service and have said the same on several threads.
Visiting their garage for servicing in a certain city in North Goa is almost frightening and I want to avoid that.
On the other hand my wife really loves the car and is willing to go for another. I have to admit that is an ideal car for Goa with its narrow roads.
Any opinions would help.
Honeybee.... you seem to be the resident expert on the Nano. Your thoughts would help.
I am also concerned that if they launch the Nano with a 800cc engine in the near future the sale value of the present car will drop.
Basically I will be paying 80K for power steering, two glove boxes and a new dash unit. Yes! The car itself will be new but with only the three afore mentioned changes.

Your thoughts please.

Regards,
SS

TAKE THE OFFER!!!!!

Who else will pay 1,80,000 for a 30 month car?!?!?

And look at it this way: you will be shelling out 80 K to get a brand new , upgraded car. In other words, you " rented" your current Nano for Rs.2,666 per month :-) . Sounds like a super deal to me!

The buyback offer seems good.

From a perspective of new features to be added, suppose the AMT variant would be the next in line, which would also be another convenience.

There was also an article in ET last week where it was confirmed by a company representative that the Nano would be re-launched in 2015 as a smart city car with additional features.

You would have to take a call on how long to wait for which iteration and whether the buyback offered would continue to be as attractive in future.

Hi All,

Today i visited Aadya (Ebony Automobiles) in bangalore after hebbal, Opp to Lumbini garden.

I am planning to buy a Nano for my wife....basically for travelling to office & back , approximately a total of 30 KM drive daily.

I got quote for Nano LX on road price 229371(discount of 50000)
for Nano twist 269307(discount of 25000).

Please let me know if i need to visit any other showroom for better price.

I got a car without power steering for test drive and it was hard in a bumper to bumper traffic. so planning to go for nano twist...Please advise if it is worth, difference of money is 40000 only for power steering.

Also should i consider Alto 800 as an alternative?

Above member PNTLovesNano says i should check PID 2013 parts..how do i check that ?

Thanks in advance

Hi John Doe,

I must say that your post was highly enlightening. I never thought of it that way. Looking at it in this perspective I guess it's a no brainer. Will do the booking on Monday. Just waiting on some inside info on when the Nano Twist Active is likely to be launched. However, I have been told that this offer is only valid for 4 days more so don't really have a choice.

Thanks again guys.

SS

At best cross check for a week and see if you're getting better deals on OLX/Quikr, else JUMP on it.

IMO it takes the ease of driving to a new level.

There are changes, but I don't think these are among them. As said in the official review :

Mechanically, the Twist is identical to the 2012 Nano. The engine, gearbox, brakes and suspension are carried over from the older car:
Attachment 1190000

Tell me about it, its the SAME case in Bangalore.

I sent my Nano for service last month. Honestly, it actually only needed a wash (sent for AMC service) and the SA simply changed all kinds of stuff at his own accord. Luckily it was under warranty. I now STRONGLY suggest people to stay with the car during service.

TaMo has no such plans AFAIK.

ATB:thumbs up

IMO its worth it, but I guess its also subjective. TD a Twist and weigh the benefit to cost.

If you're open to buying non-PS pre-owned pieces, I seriously think there'll be many available on Olx & Quikr for quite low rates, and anyway Nano comes with a 4-Year warranty.

IMHO, NO. Personally I've always wondered WHY people even bother with that contraption when the nano is SO MUCH superior as a car.

Honestly, I don't think those things are an issue. Can a 2013 mfd (example : Glass or switch) part can simply degrade if untouched/unused for just a year.

AFAIK you just need to check the VIN & ensure you get a 2014 piece. ATB:thumbs up

I had been to Concorde Motors on Mysore Road, Bangalore. In what seems strange, the offer on individuals is better than in CLC. For example, they say that it is simply not possible to give exchange bonus equivalent with the CLC. The SA was very eager to negotiate till the CLC matter came up after which he simply did not show any enthusiasm. If they are ready to give a good offer under the lease program, I will seriously consider picking it up, else I will simply have to give it a pass.
