Hi Naveen,
How much did the seat covers cost you? Did you buy it from Concorde? Assume that you went for the art leather one. |
The folks in Concorde quoted 4k and gave an offer of 50% discount. These are beige colored Art-leather covers with "nano" embossed on them. There was on in Black which costed 4.5k which were really good, but did not suit the interiors of my car. It might suit a purple colored Nano since the interiors are in black.

Thanks. Will look out for them at Tafe. One small correction - Only Dazzle blue has black interiors. Damson Purple has beige only.
Also now my dealer asks for 1K more for registration as I don't have any of the specified residence proof (Ration card, Voter ID, LIC policy only). He says he needs to pay for affidavit by Notary public and also bribe the RTO.
Is it normal or exploitation from the dealer side?

Didn't pay close attention to the purple car's interior in the showroom. Then there is a beige option too.
I too paid 1K for the affidavit since i did not have anything for my residence proof. Earlier it used to be ~Rs500 when i registered my bike.
Bought a Nano Twist XT for my wife 2 weeks back. The car took some getting used to but once set is a breeze to drive. The cabin space is surprisingly large and rear leg room is better than my previous Alto k10. My wife used to drive almost a decade ago and has totally lost touch with driving and is starting all over again. The engine noise inside the cabin is not as pronounced as it is in the outside and is very silent in Neutral. Gear shifts are easy but sometimes they don't slot perfectly. The acceleration is not quick and the car gradually builds speed. Driving position is tall and offers a better view than my City Diesel. The power steering is comfortable. Overall Happy with the purchase so far
Took delivery of my car today from TAFE dealership.
Car has been ready since 5th, but due to other commitments, could not go and pick it up.
Delivery Experience:
When i entered, the car was placed right at the entrance of the dealership, ready for delivery. To my surprise, the number plates were fitted with my number embossed on it. I had never experienced this before in any of my 2W / 4W purchases.
The dealer in charge explained me about the accessories fitted, pairing Bluetooth device and so on... While he was talking i fiddled with the speedo console switches and made the odo meter reset to zero. The dealer guy looked shocked. I told him that i had heard of this before and it is alright.
I told a strict no no to garland, lemon, pooja etc., I also wanted to avoid posing with a big key, but had to do it as he wanted it for his records.
First 3 things i did after delivery:
1. Went to tire shop and replaced air with nitrogen on all 5 wheels, setting pressure to 28 psi on front and 30 psi on other 3.
2. Topped up the fuel tank (13.5 lit)
3. Drove into the city in peak hour with bumper to bumper traffic and into highway totaling about 40kms.
Initial observations:
Pros:
1. Drives like a charm, easy to steer
2. Awesome AC, had to moderate the cooling setting
3. Spacious... absolutely spacious
4. Nice comfortable view of the road
5. Nice and no nonsense music system
Cons (in the order of importance)
1. Brakes: longer stopping distances. Have to be very cautious at speeds above 70 kmph :Frustrati
2. Frequent downshifting is a must to keep the wheel torque demand satisfied
3. I felt that the A pillar blind spot and reverse blind spot a little irritating
4. Impossible to get out of the car without rubbing the steering wheel
Soon, i will post some pics and drive experience.

Congratulations!
Wow! Lot of similarities. I bought mine for my wife a couple of months ago, our earlier car was the venerable Alto, my wife stopped driving about five years ago and our other car is the 2014 ANHC iVTEC! Did you pick the purple one?
For learning to drive again the Nano is a good choice, it does not go anywhere fast (read as difficult to lose control), quite nimble, the power steering and seat position makes the womenfolk quite comfortable.

Is that supposed to happen? Won't that be illegal? Or are we talking about the trip meters?
How forward is the seat placed for you? The Nano has a slight incline so that as you push the seat forward the seat height increases. I had a 6-footer friend drive it and with the seat almost 3/4ths back, he got off without making contact with the steering wheel. And aren't you supposed to keep it below 60 kmph for proper running-in?
One thing is quite evident, despite all the negative stuff being told about the Nano, I am finding that most of the owners have no regrets buying it. For what we paid the Nano is a decent package, value for money for city use. Loving it.
In my old car, once the vehicle moves above 10kmph, the central locking automatically locks all the doors.
I don't find this happening in the Nano. One has to either push the lock at the driver side or press the remote lock to centrally lock all doors.
Is it designed this way or a fault on my car?

This is how it works. Apparently Tata skimped on this feature (speed sensitive auto locks)
Got my car a pair of Hella Red grills. Got them installed with a relay in place and a switch to toggle between OEM and these. These are very good, but a bit overkill for normal driving. But does get attention when really needed.

Cool. What's the spec? (300Hz?) Where was the job done and what cost?
Can the toggling be done from inside the cab? Also what happens to the warranty??
Sorry for too many questions :)

These are the standard Redgrill Super tones. Got the high tone and low tone pair. Will check the exact spec. Toggling is with a switch placed on the dashboard on the driver side (there is a provision for the cut-out). I tried my best to try and get this done with the TASS, but they were not obliging. They were like as long as it is done professionally warranty will not be an issue. But again keeping my fingers crossed. Yes there was one wire cut, for the switch byepass, from the steering column, apart from that everything else is stock. Got it done with the wiring relay kit. This was done at Sri Radio warehouse in Anna Nagar. The guy is a friend of mine, hence know the parts used are genuine and workmanship was good. Total cost was Rs.2200. MRP for the Horn is ~Rs.14xx.

There's no need to cut any wires. Use a plug-in type relay, not the screw type. This can be connected directly to the existing horn wires. Make sure that the supply for the horns is taken directly at the battery terminal with a 15 A fuse for safety.
Completed 300kms and thought of pitching in.
Driving condition:
The road profile driven was 50% city with traffic congestion and 50% highway. Kept the vehicle at around 65 to 70 in the 4th gear whenever i got a chance to. 100% AC on with cooler setting varying between full to 3/4th.
Mileage:
I had filled up my tank, reset the trip meter and drove 274 kms. For this trip the dashboard AFE shown was 19.5 kmpl. I had once again topped up tank yesterday and it drank up 14.4 lts. The fill to fill method FE stands at 19 kmpl.
That's about 2.5% error on the dashboard meter, which is very decent.
Add ons:
Art leather seat cover : 2,600/-
Rain visor: 650/-
Plastic full floor mat: 1,600/-
Tiny little USB: 243/- (Sandisk SDCZ15 - 8GB)

Thanks. The supply is taken directly from the battery with a fuse. The wire was cut at the steering column, cant do much right now.
Did a 800+km trip this weekend again. This time with 4 people on board. The car behaves very well on full load. The swerving when passing trucks/buses is less felt with full load. There was a brake judder when braking above 70KM/h. Also the suspension developed a mild squeaking noise post the trip. The front left tyre now has a little over-wear towards the outer edge. Gave the car to the service center to look at these. They said the brake liner was replaced under warranty. Need to get an update on the tyre wear and suspension noise.
When i asked about the tyre wear, the SA was simply saying i would have run it with less pressure. Was explaining him that i did a check when i started the trip, and during return and during a stop over. There was no loss in pressure what so ever. He was like we never know, the tyre mouth could have gone bad etc. I was in no mood to start an argument and asked him to check and get back to me but firmly stated my point on the tyre pressure part. The wear is hardly noticeable right now.
What are the other things that can cause this?. I doubt wheel bearings, suspension etc. Can this also be due to a tyre defect? If so i assume going the warranty route is going to be tedious.

Looks great! . Where did you get the rain visors? I dont remember seeing them in the Tata Showroom.
These plastic floor mats i heard is prone to trap moisture/water under them leading to rust. Is there any way to avoid this?
USB is something i did a lot of research online to find the smallest one:uncontrol. Found this one to be smallest available. Also matches with the sliver colored player console. Bigger USB drives tend to foul when engaging first gear.

I had bought all of these from GP road (except pen drive). TAFE had nothing at Pallikaranai. For everything the standard answer was, "Sir, it is available at mount road showroom only".

I haven't heard about it. However, I am very lazy when it comes to keeping the car spic and span. Hence these mats will do a world of good with easy cleaning.
