Frank, when your mechatronic unit failed, did they cover it under the normal (extended warranty) or was it covered as part of the engine warranty?

When I bought my GT in Jan'17 I had a separate warranty issued for the engine if I recall correctly. I have the 3+2

I believe VW have also come out with some additional extended warranty scheme lately and was thinking of asking them about it.

Not really an 'upgrade,' but yes, a new car has already replaced her.

Yes, mine was covered in regular warranty.
Regardless, everyone who loses their Mecha unit MUST CLAIM GOODWILL warranty and VW will wilt if you put a little pressure.
