My Ertiga is the 1st gen (2013) version with the K14 and 5w30 recommendation like you've said!

Stick to the user manual recommendation, I'd say that should be alright considering MSIL would recommend a different grade if necessary for hotter regions. Is 0w16 the only grade given in your manual? If yes, just stick to it!

Cheers,
Piyush.

Either 0w16 or 0w20.

Since your user manual has both grades listed, you could go for 0w20 if you feel 0w16 is too thin!

Thanks a lot for your replies Leoshashi!
Yes my intention was just to warn you about things which may go bad. In most cases, it won't cause anything negative, but one should know about both cases before taking an informed decision.

If memory serves me right, manual says shift to 0W16 as soon as possible, 0W20 is just a stop gap measure in case 0W16 isn't available.

I agree the OE oil is crappy, and hence I've been sticking to 5K change intervals. There is another good option, Idemitsu 0W16 or Castrol Magnatec 0W16. I know someone who has used both, and they are way better than OE oils. If you can convince your MASS to source Castrol Or Idemitsu for you, nothing like it.

I am waiting for my warranty to expire, post which I'll shift to Castrol Magnatec 0W16. My MASS wasn't too enthusiastic about sourcing either.

So xw30 is a strict no in your opinion? None of the service centres are willing to procure anything apart from Ecster.
I have an upcoming Spiti trip, so thinking that it will be extremely harsh for engine compared to my usual moderate traffic commute.

No please don't. Stick to stock grade. You can always request the service centers to procure Shell/Idemitsu made 0W16 Ecstar. That is still better than Servo or Castrol 0W16.

Shashi

Yes, they poured in Shell 0w16 Ecstar. Is it worth going to Castrol Magnetec 0w16 over this for harsh driving conditions?

Also, is the padding you applied inside boot under floor lids effective. Those lids make the irritating noise over every breaker and spoil the quietness in a nicely cocooned cabin?

Yes, if your MASS agrees to source it for you.

Yes, they are effective, just make sure to put it in correct places such that the lid sits snug. Also if you have a 3D mat in place, the lid doesn't bounce around that much.

Shashi

Thanks. MASS can't arrange anything at my place, will search and fill outside.

Interestingly, i have 3d mat over lid since day1. Now, you got thinking if this level of bounce is with mat, what would it be without one.

Re: My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review

Hi Shashi,
I just noticed tags of airbag stitched in seam on the driver and passenger seats on my 2023 ertiga zxi+.

Does it mean that this vehicle is equipped with 4 airbags?

Regards
Nikhil

Ertiga ZXi+ and XL6 Alpha+ have 4 airbags, front driver and passenger plus 2 side airbags. They don't have curtain airbags as of now.

For XL6 , 4 Airbags are not limited to Alpha+ only but standard across the variants while Ertiga gets in ZXI+ only.

Hello Leoshashi,
My 3rd free service is due next week. Since ODO reading is only 2750 kms, please advise if I should go with engine oil change this time (as due in 3rd service) or wait to reach 5-6k? If need to change, will definately ask to bring same MGO Shell 0W16 and filter you have mentioned.

Also suggest if I should get 4 tyres rotated or its not advisable with this ODO reading?

(planning to call them home as nothing major in this service)
