Re: Sapphire – My Royal Blue 2021 Tata Safari XZA 7-seater (AT) Ownership Review

Great to see your detailed & candid post, Jude300. I must say a lot of us think in similar way but do not take the time out to pin it down.

I also bought Royal Blue Tata Safari XZA 7 seater in August. Although I faced issues in delivery as well 1st service (mostly because of Dealer issues) but I like my SUV. I actually did a road trip (Gurgaon to Shoghi near Shimla). The performance was extraordinary on the highway and some off-road locations. Really interested in adding accessories/mats etc. and would keep following your posts.

Congratulations and thanks for your wishes. Yes, as mentioned in the review I have fallen in love with post ownership. Do keep us updated on your add ons. You can take the liberty to either pay it here or on the official review thread.

Re: Sapphire – My Royal Blue 2021 Tata Safari XZA 7-seater (AT) Ownership Review

Really frustrated with Tata dealers in Hyderabad. Have been trying to get a Safari test drive vehicle at home to check the entry angle to my parking for more than a month now. They cannot send before 11 AM or after 5 PM. Even when I re-schedule my calendar and find a slot during the day, their vehicle will throw up some problem, and they do not turn up. If this is the attitude before buying the vehicle, I am now really scared to buy one.

Write to "customercare@tatamotors.com". You should get a call back from them within a few hours. They will arrange a TD for you from a reliable showroom at your doorstep. I was told by the group sales head of Key Motors, Bangalore that all queries/complaints concerning Harrier/Safari are handled separately. The dealer has very little control over the complaints (I mean, closing a ticket without a correct response).

When the Mysore Road Key Motors branch messed up my delivery, I had raised the issue with TaMo. The guys from TaMo called me within the next hour and then the CRM from Key Motors called me. The group sales head was present when I went to do the PDI. He said he will follow my case till the actual delivery. Which he did.

Re: Sapphire – My Royal Blue 2021 Tata Safari XZA 7-seater (AT) Ownership Review

Update: I had tagged Tata Motors handle on Twitter and posted my ordeal in getting a test drive. The response was immediate - got a call from Tata Motors Hyderabad higher ups and got a test drive vehicle promptly at home today morning. Parents like the car and got the go ahead to book one. I like the adventure edition but do not want the Sun roof as I want the option for roof mounted luggage carrier. Also any birdie chirping about any upcoming versions?

Re: Sapphire – My Royal Blue 2021 Tata Safari XZA 7-seater (AT) Ownership Review

So, I went ahead and booked an Adventure persona XZA+. I got a discount of 33k on Insurance and 20k additional discount plus mud flaps, body cover and 3d mats free. Did anyone opt for the accessories kit? The SA insists there is no additional accessories kit, and chose the accessories individually. I read somewhere about the accessories kits or packs.
Also, anything specific I need to take care of before taking delivery apart from the PDI?

Congratulations!

Many dealerships don't stock official accessories not sure why. Mine didn't even have dashcam. If you really need it try via the customer care. Try to get the contact of customer care manager from Tata motors, then it becomes a lot easier to get your problems solved. The customer care route is very effective.

Re: Sapphire – My Royal Blue 2021 Tata Safari XZA 7-seater (AT) Ownership Review

Hey Jude300, congrats on the Safari. I've never driven the new safari, but going by the feedback and reviews from Owners, it looks like a promising machine and a better Choice than the XUV700. A proper upgrade too.

My decision to go for the EcoSport started from your blue machine thread. I'm still keeping this car and the maintenance of EcoSport is similar to that of a HH splendor or Innova(I might sound a bit exaggerating but I find it to be true).

It's interesting that you're a fan of blue as the EcoSport was also blue and the Safari is too.

Wishing you several miles of peaceful ownership with the the Tata.

On the hindsight, are there any DPF issues in the Safari, because I have heard a fee complaints in the BS 6 innova crysta.

Also, most of the crysta owners are unaware of Adblue or DPF(but this is for another thread, another day).

Thanks for the wishes and happy to hear that my review has made a positive impact. If you love the EcoSport you will love the Safari too. I won't call it better than XUV700 as there are things that are subjective that come into play but to me personally it was the better option. Safari has all the practical features you need and IMHO automatic is the option to go with.

On the DPF, I think it is about awareness and knowing how to avoid it and that holds true for all BS VI vehicles. Driving constantly in the city will aggravate the clogging and hence a 20 km drive in the highway will help regenerate the soot build up. Fellow bhpian niel_roy also reported DPF issue on the Safari after long city usage. So that's more like an inherent thing with BS VI vehicles and not an issue. I have only done about 2500 kms and so too early to comment. These could come up after a few thousand kms.

Re: Sapphire – My Royal Blue 2021 Tata Safari XZA 7-seater (AT) Ownership Review

V18 software update: Wireless Android Auto / Car Play now available on my Sapphire

I got the software upated to V18 and this now has added the much needed wireless android auto feature on my car. While this comes as standard for the new Safari XZ variant owners, it was not available on the ones until a little while back. This comes as a great update and hats off to Tata Motors for listening to the customer feedback.

Please note that it is device dependant i.e. your mobile should support Wireless Android Auto. To my underdstanding all devices with Android 11 should work seamlessly.

Wired Android Auto was always an issue as the USB cable bends and gets damaged often. Also, at times, the connection gets lost when the cables moves and we will require to reconnect. I am super happy that this is not going to be the case going forward.

Will keep you posted of the performance after observing for a few days.

Re: Sapphire – My Royal Blue 2021 Tata Safari XZA 7-seater (AT) Ownership Review

A lot has been said about the heavy steering of Harrier/Safari and hence it being a difficult city/daily drive. How heavy is it actually? Even Innova and Fortuner are supposedly having a pretty heavy steering. Is it comparable or lighter? If you’ve driven the old XUV500 with Hydraulic unit, is it on par or better than that? Because for someone looking for one SUV for city as well as highway use, that can be a deciding factor.

For what it's worth, I found the steering of my brother in law's Harrier lighter than my Indica wearing upsized tyres ! In absolute terms I found it pretty easy to handle, though I wouldn't get one for city use because finding parking to fit it is tough in KL cities

Well it's slightly heavy only at parking speeds i.e. <5kmph. Post that it's light and no trouble at all. So, in the city it shouldn't be too much of an issue unless you frequently have to park your car in tight parking space with a lot of turning to do. To me this issue is not a deal breaker.

Thanks mates. Haven’t driven them so wouldn’t know but these inputs does assure that maybe it isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be. A big SUV for City use can be cumbersome for parking yes, but I usually only drive at weekends or night times. Plus am the only driver in the family so need only one car now. But frequent highway trips also make it a must to have an SUV. Thinking of getting rid of my XUV500 in few months time. Will see if need to buy one soon then or can do with just the Vento for some time till even better options come up. Either way, if any new SUV/car comes, both current ones will have to go. And the Vento is hardly used in 7 years of ownership so far so still not sure.

I am about to get my Adventure Persona delivered this week. has anyone here opted for bonnet scoops, dash cam and front parking sensors as accessories that Tata provides? If yes, please share the feedback of the same. For now, I plan to opt for the footboard.
