Your reservations are reasonable but the TC offered is constanly learning your driving habits. The throttle response has changed completly if I compare it to when I first drove my car and thus, the fuel efficiency has certainly improved now that the car has done 15k KMs. It hovers around 12-14 KMPL in peak Delhi Traffic. I am quite satisfied with this figure. Do note that I drive with a VERY light foot.

On the Higways, the maximum I have extracted is 19KMPL with cruise control set to 90. A realistic figure however will be 16.5KMPL based on trip of 700KMs to Udaipur. Route had around 250KM of expressway, single lane roads and ghat sections. Car was driven at speeds of upto 130kmph for long stretches.

Elevate is going to fare in a similar manner on the highways too. Reason being, whenever NA engines are pushed hard, they need to increase RPMs way up compared to a turbo engine and thus result in increased fuel consumption. Having a turbo or diesel altogether helps on highway.

I would suggest going with a car that your heart desires. Afterall, this is probably the last decade we can drive ICE cars without many restrictions. Hope this feedback helps your cousin make an informed decision.

Re: 1 year ownership review of my Maruti-Suzuki XL6 | Tale of switching from an Ertiga to the XL6

Guys,
I am a proud owner of XL6 as well. However, have just started facing an issue since yesterday, seeking suggestions for a DIY remedy if possible.

My Remote has stopped working yesterday, initially thought its the battery, but the alternate one is also not working. Another wierd thing, when i unlocked my car this mornign, the remote worked like a charm, i thought the system has perhaps healed itself overnight however, again when i reached office, it didnt respond. Moreover when i am turning off the engines, my stereo is still on, which was not the case earlier.

Looks like a fuse gone wrong, but perhaps can do with more guidance.

TIA.

Re: 1 year ownership review of my Maruti-Suzuki XL6 | Tale of switching from an Ertiga to the XL6

Excellent thread. We are on the lookout for a 6/7 seater and XL6 is the top contender. XL6 has pushed the VFM bar so high that everything else feels overpriced.

First of all, coming from a Ritz, all other 5 seaters do not feel like an upgrade.

Coming to 7 seaters, Triber and Ertiga are too basic, Carens comes close but top-end with ventilated seats is 4L more, and everything else including the Tatas, Mahindras, Toyotas (though high on desirability) do not make sense running on petrol. Hycross hybrid is good contender too but at almost 10L more.

If Carens top end also had a panoramic sunroof or a 5 star GNCAP rating, splurging 4L more over XL6 Alpha Plus would have been more palatable. So you see, in a sea of cars, there's nothing still that comes close to XL6 on the VFM quotient. Perhaps Mahindra can add a petrol engine to Marazzo. Nothing else on the horizon.
