Getz Prime 1.5 Crdi

Hey all,

Got my Getz crdi last week (red)....so far so good....
I guess most of the reviews have proven to be more or less accurate.
The engine is absolutely wonderful!!! Truly amazing pickup, but as expected while making the vehicle choice, the brakes are'nt anything to write home about.

Disappointing that Hyundai didnt load the vehicle with certain basic features that you expect when you pay 6.65lacs.....no fog lamps, no rear spoiler, no cigar lighter, no rear wiper, no rear defogger....huh..the list goes on...i mean i have all these things in my Santro

When driving in bumper to bumper traffic...the initial lag caused due to the VGT gets a little frustrating at times...

But then again....its all forgiven when you go past that 2000 rpm mark..coz then "You really feel like god"

FE: Done about 1000 kms so far (only in city & without a/c) and it gives me about 13...i hope i that stretches to atleast 15 after servicing and oil change.

I had to chose between the swift ZDi and the Getz crdi....the swift was 70k cheaper and fully loaded....but felt really underpowered beyond speeds of 60km/hr.....in the end am glad i chose the getz coz the car can be loaded but the engine cannot be changed!

Congrats on the killer hatch! The Getz diesel is a stonker, too bad they didn't offer it with ABS and better equipment levels (especially at that price!). Car per car, it is more than a match to the Swift D.

I look forward to detailed reviews once you run the odometer up to a couple of thousand kms.

Congrats!!

Its a monster. Enjoy!

How is the ride comfort and handling? I know its early to comment on handling.

Apart from space, the best part of Getz Petrol is the ride comfort.

The engine tempts u to push the accelerator and makes u go fast.

Isn't the VGT supposed to minimize lag, vis-a-vis an FGT?

@Kunal - You should thank Hyundai that they gave you a VGT, rather than an FGT - which would have compromised acceleration or power.

Congrats on Getzing the CRDI . Am planning on purchasing a car soon and this is one of the leading contenders. Looking forward to more detailed ownership reviews.

It is disappointing the Hyundai hasnt bothered to offer the car with better kit for the price - but as you said, you can add accessories but cannot change the engine. I can only think of the engine for now and envy you!

Is there a Swift ZDi variant available?!
You are saying that fully loaded the Swift D feels underpowered?! Startling statements, i must say.

Correction

Sorry guys bout the swift Zdi part....but what i actually meant was the abs version (fully loaded)

Answers to some of the queries:

1) The tyres are not MRF...the getz crdi comes with Goodyear!!

2) benbsb29: I drove a zen D for about 3 years...i did not notice much of a difference during the TD of the swift ( i think the comparision of engine specs n stats would also support me )....I was hoping for more from the swift in terms of power but was disappointed! and on the other hand, with the getz i got more for what i had bargained for!

3) Kuttapan: not too sure bout the technologies...but the point am trying to make is that in a scenario for example on an upward climb u encounter a spead breaker....after you cross it...it gave me the feeling that a non crdi engine like the zen was somehow able to deliver more!! I might be totally wrong though

Kunal,
"When driving in bumper to bumper traffic...the initial lag caused due to the VGT gets a little frustrating at times..."

This is something lot of people write about.
But honestly, I didn't notice or feel this turbo lag in Kencha(Getz CRDi). for 110 BHP mill, the initial torque(not 235NM after 1800rpm) at lower rpm is more than adequate for pulling the Getz with much ease. So you wouldn't notice Turbo Lag......in Getz.....

You'll notice only when the intial torque to pull the car is insufficent and needs turbo to give more torque. And this doesn't exist in Getz as it has 110 bhp mill. If I use the same mill on Scorpio, then one might notice/feel turbo lag....

Thats my take on this

Anyway, Enjoy the new car, its great choice..

cheers
