Congratulations Lionheart...!! I've also joined the club, yet to get delivery of my ride.

Regarding the ABS i think the Getz ABS kit cannot be fitted instead it will need the Verna ABS kit....Not sure as i'm yet to get the full technical details of the setup.

Ok, that makes sense. I wasn't aware the ABS module takes up that much space! How big is it?

Some more questions regarding braking & handling:

How are the stock brakes? Has anyone thought about other possible upgrades to the braking system? Maybe do a rear disc conversion? I have seen and heard of this being done in cars like Lancers and OHCs, but never on a Getz. Bigger rotors, better pads are other options I guess.

Regarding handling, lionheart has already mentioned that upsizing to better tyres helps. I guess fitting a strut brace will help even more. Anything else?

What does the steering feel like? Does it provide enough feedback for the driver? Does the car feel unsteady/light at high speeds?

Sorry for the flood of questions - I just want to get to know this car a bit more. Still haven't been able to get a TD from Hyundai :(

Razor,

The stock brakes are adequate if you drive with sanity. But if you are looking to smoke someone and encounter some reason to brake hard (like maybe a person in the car in front of you suddenly decided to stop drink tender coconut by the roadside ), then they definitely aren't enough. You would need some real changing of gears and brake pressure to be able to pull it off.
I guess fitting rear discs voids the warranty (not really sure though). Getting it done at Hyundai maybe the best way.

The steering gives good feedback and is accurate enough. I drove through some hairpin bends and found no reason to complain. Also, didn't notice any difference across speeds. Must also mention that I have upsized my tyres, so maybe that helped. The stock tyres look like they are from Somalian territory (severly malnourished).

Btw, Lionheart, how did you manage to get a cover?
diplomacy, my friend, diplomacy

I tried my best from Advaith and all I got was a box of chocolates and a portrait of me and my car (am I a Narcissist???)

nope, got me self a really half baked potrait too

hey, maybe all getz guys in bangy should meet up what say???

yes, it does.

umm, i am like a lay person here. ask torque guru about that. he rode the getz too and can give you a better feedback.

Congratulations Lionheart...!! I've also joined the club, yet to get delivery of my ride.

to be frank, your TD report was the final nail in my coffin for the Getz

peace

I got Remote locking, sun film, steering cover, car cover and chocolates from Trident

best thing about the chocolates was that i was able to shove it down my neighbours throats (everyone in my lane wanted a treat!!!!!) and i am talking 15 houses

Advaith offers either car cover or steering wheel cover if you ask for freebies

.
You are right. The brakes are good for Getz, most of my friends who drove said the same. Actually i have the habit of using the gears rather than believing in brakes most of the time. If i am going for a sudden brake i just shift it to 3rd gear to get better control and then apply the brake. But it comes only by practice.

I feel short changed really...I didn't even get a perfume from Advaith. I somehow think Trident is better. Or maybe I was very soft with the sales girl at Advaith! Didn't want to feel like I was begging for something, so never pushed too much. But I did ask for Keyless Entry and Cover (never got them though!).

Vivek, asking for freebies is not begging.

I asked freebies because IMO Getz D is not worth 6.53 lacs in BLR. If they were selling the car at 6.2 lacs, i would have wrote a check without asking for anything.
Maruti DZire is worth the money. When i was checking the ZDI model, i didnt even have asking freebies in my mind. Thats a VFM effect

So next time evaluate the price of the stuff you are buying and then decide about asking freebies.

Hi Razor4077,
The steering feels good...and has considerable feedback, but yes the car does feels a little light at high speeds(140+)( may be because i am used to a heavier car), One thing I have noticed is that, while taking turns(I tried it on the Devanahalli airport road, Bangalore) at high speeds there is a bit of oversteer and the car threatens to fish tail. I haven't actually cornered this car hard enouf, Lionheart are you listening? Anyways, the tyre upsize has surely made the difference to Lionheart. I am quite impressed with the brakes despite not having ABS, I must add.
Regards,
TG.
