The 1K bill was for CAT+misc. and it had done 15k plus on the odo. I would think this is normal for 2nd service and also irrespective of the qlty of the fuel. I could be wrong here.

JK i guess you are closing in on 15k soon aren’t you?

Is this norm for all diesels? In almost 60k for my GV no charges for CAT or that mater 150k on my last Esteem (and host of other cars) no charges for cleaning of CAT. Replacement due to under body damage yes but cleaning?

If I recall correctly a CAT not working cleanly and/or not at operating temperatures gets poisoned and becomes useless. In the case of petrol vehicles I have not had a CAT failure.

hey,

nice ride dude....

the last three pics brings back happy memories!! one of the options for our 1st campsite on our trip was to the left of the bridge you are on, on a grassy knoll a short hop from the water. we discounted it finally because it was too close to the road (our younger son is 2!) and there would be too much dust...

finally our campsite was planted about 3 kms further on from the raksham board in the last pic. we did eat at the little dhaba in rarsham on two nights though!! the campsite was pretty close to the itbp camp.

we also did a gorgeous 7 day trip with the safari in may... i've been procrastinating with writing the travelogue though. will do soon!!!

cheers.

I did not get a cat cleaning item on my 15k service bill. Even if it is required, it should be FOC, under warranty and 2nd service IMO, unless they can prove that it is due to bad fuel or whatever.

No engine flush either. Is this something recommended ?

cheers!

2000 Rs for oil and filter change right?

550Rs included what? You got them the horn? Where was it fitted? I was charged 800 something.

CAT clean at 15k is kind of new news to me.

I dont think engine flush is recommended for every oil change.

Hi smsrini please refer to the below thread.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...checklist.html

This talks about the service check list and much more. I'm yet to go thru the complete thread myself so not really sure what all you may find in it. Have a look I'm sure its going to help you a lot with the questions you have.

A sealant is used to fix the headlight assembly, but if you have had even a smalll hit on the front, the shock will open it up for the water/ moisture formation.

Most of the cases I have seen have had a hit. But you can get it covered under warranty.

Engine flush can be used(not mandatory) at min 10k and then every 20k Kms as per TATA and depends if you are facing any problems.

Why is the Cat being cleaned at 15k?

And an engine flush so early in life?

I think your dealer is making $$$ at your expense. Please ask him for a refund unless you have specifically requested for the same.

I got my car serviced 2 days ago for the 15K KM. I was out of station and hence my friend took it to Prerana Motors. The Total bill amount came to Rs 6000 for the so called free service.

The following are the costs:

Engine Oil Castrol CH4 -----------: 1734
Differential Oil EP 140 Castrol -----: 396
Coolant Top up ------------------: 60
Brake Fluid ----------------------: 24
Assy Fuel Filter Delphi -----------: 2163
Bardahl Special Duty ------------: 444
Assy Oil Filter -------------------: 161
Fuel Filter Cartridge Renew ------: 250
Misc (Grease, WD40, Cotton..) --: 85
Total VAT on parts -------------: 629
Service tax ---------------------: 30

Total: Rs 5976

Is the dealer cheating on me? if yes whom should I complain?
I was getting very low average of around 9kmpl on highways for the past 2 months. I think the Diesel Filter Assy was changed due to that. When looking at the individual costs everything looks ok, but a final bill of Rs 6000 for a free service doesn't look ok for me.

What do you guys say?

Yes,they shouldnt have changed the Assy Fuel Filter Delphi -----------: 2163 at 15K kms.

this has been a mistake and some other T-bhp member also faced that.

Assy Fuel Filter should be changed at 30k.

Had this not been done, your bill would have been around 3.8k and its all reasonable.
