Thanks for the links. Question is whether the indian spec incorporates the DBW.

Also I notice that india is not the only country to not get the 2ZR-FE. Malaysia also got the same old 1ZZ-FE engine.

Most Asian countries have the 1ZZ-FE engine as the standard powerplant. This includes Singapore, Thailand & Philippines. I hear exceptions are Sri Lanka and Pakistan (?!!). Havent figured out why TMC would want to stay with the older engine in Asia.

The Altis does indeed look great in black but its typical of Toyota to release more colors with a facelift to revive their products on an ongoing basis.

Although the move to CVT with the new 1.8 powerplant is good for FE, it will wont be have as much fun to drive. Having a CVT NHC I have turned anti-CVTs, I like them for the FE they return but the rubber band effect is horrible.

Guys, anyone checked for the rev problem on upshifting?
My brother needs to make the final decision by today.

Has any other Altis owner on TBHP faced this issue? Coz I have not. Maybe the demo car had an issue.

But the trademark DBW lag is certainly there. I hope it should be correctible thru an adjustment in the accelerator VR or better still thru an ECU software setting. Have read about this adjustment being done on BMWs.

I drove the car about a week back and the rpm does jump up about 200-300 rpm when you try to upshift. Tried backing off the power before using the clutch to help the cause, but the rpm still jumped up after the clutch was pressed. Don't know if its a flaw or a feature though. The engine temperature was normal btw, so this problem/feature should be unrelated.

But it feels especially weird when you try to upshift quickly as the engine goes to a higher rpm, and then when you release the clutch the car jumps ahead till the rpm finally settles down.

From what I've read on the web, things like DBW are quite integral to the engine design and they don't usually bother with changing such things because it involves way too many parts and the ECU.

Does the Auto also suffer from this upshift rpm jump problem?
If toyota does realize this problem I dont think it will be a hassle to repair as adjusting the ECU should do the trick.

It was not only the demo car but 2 more pieces ( Brand new ) with about 10-20km on the ODO.

Did not drive the auto but i feel if its ECU , then it will be there. If gearbox, then Not sure.

This is a bit strange. I'll check again. But dude...does it really matter? It's a nice car. Dont compare it to your Octavia RS. Two different beasts.

But then the problem is comparable to any car.

This mild rev increase may be intentional and programmed into the ECU. Only Toyota knows why. Did the dealer have a clue?

yes,the Rpm jump is there.
