I had the same issue with my Xeta. The issue was fixed after a throttle body cleaning. Nothing was done with spark plugs. Believe me, this car is so sensitive to spark plug issues that you will get misfiring signs if the spark plugs have some issue. ORVM charges mentioned are hell high.

Service:
  • All the service centres has pickup and drop facility but have not availed it so far.
Problems:
  • Nobody is able to solve the jerking problem in 3rd gear when i release the accelerator.
  • Ac stops cooling when the fan speed is in 3 or 4 after sometime.Occasionaly this happens for speed 2 and 1 also. All of a sudden it stops cooling.
Breakdown:
  • Apart from a few punctures,We had only one major breakdown issue.
  • While coming from office, radiator fan stopped working and I did not spot it till i reached home. All of a sudden,Lot of smoke came from the bonnet and all the coolant got drained.
1. All paid services in the range of 4K+ is really too much. I have owned Xeta (1.4) from 2006 Sep. The paid service bill alternates between 2k and 4k (4K comes only when there is oil change). Ofcourse, if there are any specific complaints, (like replacing the mirror) the bill would increase.

2. Your Xeta must be 1.2 Ltr one. This is low on power and hence the car is sluggish when AC is ON.

3. My advice, don't use pick-up and drop facility. Normally they charge about Rs.200/- for one-way (pick-up or drop). Its always good to go there personally and explain the problems and also personally verify the cleaning and other service done. I have seen that they had not cleaned my interiors and it was still dusty. I mentioned that to the service advisor and he ensure that the interiors were vacuumed immediately. And this should be part of their normal service. Only the interior shampoo cleaning will be charged.
Talking of interior shampoo cleaning, DONT do it for Xeta. Ever since I got my interiors shampoo cleaned, the dashboard is sticky. I was told that this is the normal problem with ALL Xetas. And I got this answer from multiple A$$.

4. Jerking problem sometimes occurs due to dust in the air filter. Try getting your air filter cleaned. They should do it as part of their normal service, but you never know. Dusty air filter also reduces FE.

5. AC getting automatically OFF is a strange issue!!

6. Punctures is bad luck :(.

7. I had faced the issue of my radiator pump leaing all the coolant. This was diagnosed to a hole in the pump! I never filled the radiator water myself. Always got it done @ A$$. So, i guess they must have used salt water to fill it.

So total 6000rs.

Today they called up with following complaints:
  • 1.Jerking problem is due to Spark plug and throttle body. so spark plug needs to be replaced, some body cable+throttle body needs to be cleaned.
  • 2.Hard clutch - clutch cable needs to be changed -500rs
  • 3.Gear bush needs to be changed -500rs(reason some vibration in gearbox)
  • 4.Front suspension bushes,rear suspension struts,etc
  • 5.Ac idler bearing and one more bearing (I was not listening properly as i was like )
  • 6.Thermocoal packing in all doors for arresting rattles-1000rs
Total bill estimate would be somewhere around 27000rs.
1. No need to decarbonize the engine @ 25K kms. It is nothing but a con job from the service advisor/centre. Normally you got to do it once you cross 50K kms (experts can tell). I got mine done @ 25k kms. Then the next time I went for service @ the same A$$, another service advisor again suggested the same to me. When I mentioned that I already got it done the last time he was telling it should be done @ 30K Kms and not 25K Kms. Thats when I confirmed their moeny making ways (Tho' I was doubting it earlier).

2. Try getting the clutch cable oiled or greased at a local mechanic. It should smoothen it. I sometimes get a squeaking noise when applying the clutch and the A$$ have been advising me to change the cable for past 15K kms. I just ask them to oil the cable. The service advisor gets it done reluctantly. The clutch gets slightly smoother and noise disappears for few thousand Kms before resurfacing.

3. Changing of suspensions @ 25K Kms! That is surprising unless you do off-roading on it. I have driven my Xeta on village roads, bad roads and some very bad roads and have clocked more than 38K Kms. Still no work on the suspension. Sometimes, the balancing road in the front gets bent and touches the body creating a noise. I just take it to the nearest mechanic or A$$ and ask them to get the rod straightened and the car is fine.

This is ridiculous. I got my body coloured ORVM replaced for the same amount at the A$$. That included painting the mirror to match the car. Just the black mirror @ A$$ should be about Rs. 1000/-.
Once I bought a mirror from outside dealer who is certified stockist for OEM parts and he charged me about Rs. 800/- for the original part. The non-genuine one was about Rs. 400/-.

1. Item no. 4 in your bill mentions "BARDAHL DIESELTUNE". What is that? Can it be used on a Petrol car?
2. Again, item no. 7 in the bill says "DIESEL ENGINE OIL". Did he put the right oil?
AFAIK diesel engine oils and petrol engine oils are different. Please verify.

3. Looking @ your experience here, I will NOT vist this A$$ again!

P.S. For item 14, looks like he has not charged for it and mentioned it as Free of Cost (FOC).

Yes we had some minor problems to be fixed which increased the bill amount.Since my usage is low,i would try to give it for six months service. So oil change is mandatory.

Cleaning, waxing, polishing all can be done better outside..TASS charges too much money for it.

But i have been getting consistent mileage of 14kmpl with 50%AC.so i guess its the throttle sensor issue.

5. AC getting automatically OFF is a strange issue!!
I guess the problem is not there now..it got rectified automatically.

6. Punctures is bad luck :(.
Changed fromt tyres to Appollo accelere and no punctures so far.

They insisted on the clutch cable change so i said ok.

Sure thanks.will check that out.

I checked with them,They said they have put the correct engine oil for petrol but bill was typed wrongly. Both costs the same..Not sure about this part.

True..concorde seems to be better.Outside friendly garage should be even better.

.
PS: Thanks for the long post.
Recently went to Yelagiri in Palio 1.6.
My family feels Indica seats are much more comfortable and spacious than Palio seats.
And also ground clearance of Palio is less than Indica.+2 to Indica.
Palio has its own benefits though.

@rock18 regarding the service interval, I understand that you give your car for service once in 6 months. Well, thats what I too do. If I remember correctly, the oil change is mandatory only once a year. Infact, if your usage is low, you don't have to go for oil change that frequently. (My 2 cents)
