Thanks buddies for welcoming me to this exclusive club. I have been itching to join the Safari club and now that dream has come true. I will click some pics as I get back home from office.

@Stranger - I was initially dealing with Han, but I found them to be unresponsive to my queries. I was actually better informed about the car than them, thanks to all the Safari threads and Dadu's thread on Safari technical issues. I needed a complete breakup of Base price, VAT, Octroi, Registration and Insurance as this was leased by my company. Han was not willing to provide the breakup. Wasan was more professional.

@Aviator - Oh yes! I was on the expressway at about that time and with a yellow garland. You must have seen me. Hey, you should have waved. It would have been a pleasure to meet a fellow BHPian.

@Zaks - I will post more pics. The total on road came to 13.11 with Mumbai and company registration.

Till now I have done about 150km and over some real bad roads in Powai and Goregaon. Till now no issues. Straining my ears for the squeaks, hope to never hear them.

Pictures

Hi Guys,
As promised here are few more pictures of my new ride. Have been out of town on work and was patiently awaiting my return so I could lay my hands on her .

Done about 250 kms in one week. No issues as yet except for a noisy front left shocker. Whenever it goes over a speed breaker it makes a squeaky noise. Let's see if it goes away, or else the first service will take care of it I suppose.

Btw - I am on my first fill and the indicator has gone back to 70% level. Two questions - (a) When should you normally refill? I used to do it halfway mark on my petrol vehicles. (b) I filled with normal diesel without any additives. Is that the right way or should I use System-D. For my petrol cars I used System G at 1ml/10 ltr ratio.

Nice pictures of the interiors. By the way, thank god you got that reverse parking camera, your parking spot seems like a tight squeeze for the beast!!

Thanks Guys.

@dry ice: Oh yes, it is tighter than the crotch hugging jeans people wear these days. It requires geometric precision to park in my slot. You can see from the few centimeters gap on the left side. I really have to make full use of the ORVM and the rear cam. Whoever designed the building did not have the foggiest idea about driving or parking. With the Beast it requires some well honed parking skills.

@Biju: I am still on my first fill and the indicator is now at around 70% with 250 kms done. Will be able to get back to you with the FE once I do the second fill. I plan to do that from the half way mark. My guestimate is around 11 kmpl.

Thanks KVS. The VX comes with ABS, EBD, Leather upholstery, DVD with 2 screens, Reverse camera and Alloys. The freebies I managed to negotiate with Wasan Motors were - Teflon coating, anti rust, floor mats and mud flaps, and they gave a Ganesha idol and a box of sweets .

An update. I am at 900kms and close to the first service. No issues at all till now. The FE has improved over the last 2 fills and now it is at 10.8 kmpl with 100% a/c and 100% city drive. Sadly I have not yet been able to venture out of the city. I guess the FE would improve after the first service.

Congrats on the buy, WheelsNSqueals!

The mileage figures seems to be good, considering 100% A/c and city.

Thanks Abhinav, Happy.

Yes, I am doing a proper running in and ensuring I don't rev suddenly and past the 2500rpm mark.

Ah yes the dual airbags of course, how could I forget that? But I wish Tatas gave a bit of thought to that. The SRS cover on the steering hub has sharp edges which is bothersome. It looks as if its gonna come out. Otherwise the finish of the cabin interior is okay.
