My New Fiat Palio 1.3 MJD, Magnesium Grey

Hi Guys,

This is my first post at Team-BHP.

Got delivery of my new car on Monday 23rd Feb from Concorde Motors Chennai. Had a few Hiccups with the date of delivery, but finally had the car on Monday.
Even though it is not advisable but as fate would have it, i bought the car without a test drive as the Concorde guys did not have a test drive car(They apparently sold it). So was a little skeptical about it as the first car i had was a Fork Ikon 1.6 Nxt.

I took the car and was soon on my way to Vellore (130km from chennai) where i stay now.
Just one word to describe the first experience in the MJD - "MIND BLOWING".
After driving a petrol car especially the Ikon 1.6, i was not expecting much, but the car has surprised me.

The smoothness of the gearbox, the legendary Palio stability had me going GaGa over the car. As i write this post the car has clocked around 300 KM and i am yet to check mileage. But i think after seeing all the other posts i need not worry about FE.

Will provide further data in a few weeks time.

And to Team BHP and its Users - Great site for Automobile enthusiasts.

congrats Bogus on your MJD...

it once again proves that a test drive experience is totally different from ownership experience..

coming from a IKON 1.6 owner the "MIND BLOWING" experience of a FIAT, it indeed re-assures that FIAT really makes great cars..

take care to run-in the diesel properly for at least for 5K kms.. it is designed for a trouble free performance for 3 lakh kms.. so 5K kms is a small percentage to have your patience to run-in properly...

Every time I think Palio MJD sales have dwindled down to zero or stopped, somebody goes ahead and buys one!

Congratulations!

Being patient with the running-in helps and I did it for almost 5000 kms. But I don't know what would happen if I didn't!

The Ikon 1.6 NXT was a MIND-BLOWING car. Powerful, handled like a dream and still comfortable. I would not rate the Palio MJD on the same scale, though. But you must have your reasons, or maybe it's just the turbo-kick .

Thank you very much. What i meant to say was that i was very apprehensive about driving a diesel after the 1.6. But contrary to my apprehension the car was mind blowing. And yes you cannot even start to think of comparing the two as they are two diff segments.

And could you warn me of any possible shocks i might get w.r.t A.S.S with TATA-FIAT.

Bogus, congrats on your new ride. Wish you many miles of safe and trouble free motoring. Please post some details (and pics) of your car and delivery experience.

OT: Hope the Concorde guys didnt sell the TD car to an unsuspecting customer.
