Thanks Sukrit, Godfather, d3mon, muralisk, aqualeo, anachronix, pmbabu, ariendj, Fountainheader, n.devdath, beejay, shantyrocks, dude131, jkdas, hellstar, Zensi, aks karthik, prince_pervez!

Now,

1. Yes, a few wrong numbers have creeped in - and 3 typos as well! Fear not, this is not a 16-cylinder Veyron! Hope mods can edit that for me.
2. Black was never my color of choice, till I saw this one. Its soooo understated and yet so sporty. A few mods are planned but most of the exterior would remain the same. Black is all oomph!
3. I agree about the jealousy bit, this one truly turns heads wherever I've test-driven it! And hey, everyone should be able to appreciate true beauty!
4. 41 days has been painful. Learning: A pre-owned car loan for a young bachelor who's just moved into a city and is working with a boutique consultancy is nigh impossible!
5. Black Hawk shall be her name, then!

Thanks guys for all the great words! Promise lotsa and lotsa photos when I get her in my hands!

Cheers!
Payne

Congratulation's d_payne,
I have never liked the cedia but your test drive seems to have changed my mind. She LOOKS SIMPLY STUNNING, especially in the BLACK outfit she's wearing...

Thanks phamilyman, maglev and vinay.

@prince_pervez: Quoted amount was 5.5 only, the price itself is nothing great IMHO. Gaurav_chopra got his white 2007 Cedia Sports for lesser as well. But this one is in mint condition, which makes it a huge plus.

Btw, this post was featured on the Great Driving Challenge blog!

Cheers!

For a 3 yr old car, the condition is excellent. Looks like she has just rolled out from the factory. Very nicely maintained car.

Congratulations... to think that I got my new Palio MJD for that price!

What is this thing about Mitsubishi? A Lancer, a Cedia, a Pajero, a Montero... any Mitsubishi owner is always head over heels in love.

No doubt they are one of the most respected engineering companies in the world, whether it's trains or its stationery. Reading your post makes me tempted to put down another one in the "must-own-sometime-in-life-cars" list... a Mitsu. And you just got yourself one.

@f1fan: I agree, that was my main draw for buying a pre-owned car. The only issues are a couple of scratches on the interiors - right door insert is scratched, some "titanium" paint has worn off on the center console (near the gear lever) and the leather-wrapped gearshift knob has lost its lustre. Am anyway planning for some heavy interior mods - touch-screen, repainting of plastics n some carbon-fibre trim as well. Lets see.

@architect: Well, we've had a Mitsu Lancer since 2003 in the family and that was one of the big draws for me towards the stable. I hate HM's marketing (or lack of it) of this car but I love the products - a lot. And they're truly beautiful cars, in an almost classic manner of styling.

Cheers!

Payne

And Payne, congrats on getting this beauty for a super price.
That brings me to the question, why are Cedias fetching so less in the used car market ? Lancers are correctly priced, why so with the Cedia ?

^^ Prince, a car which does not have many sales in the first-hand market will never fetch a good resale price. Public opinion is always wary towards such cars, much more than factual information.

The Cedia was launched at the time of the advent of the Honda Civic, the continued success of the Skoda Octavia and also the super popular Toyota Corolla. In terms of size, engine performance and refinement, the Cedia truly belongs in the same class of these D-segmenters but it never really was able to sell because of the very unpopular brand name, plus HM never helped by not marketing it enough.

The Lancer, in it's time, did not face such stiff competition and was truly in a class of its own with regards to quality, refinement and styling - no Civic/Corolla/Octavia back then.

The common man is not very confident in buying a "flop" model. Thus resale value suffers hugely. PLUS this is a luxury car, due to which the resale suffers even more - in terms of percentage depreciation.

Other examples include, Ford Fusion, Ford Mondeo, Opel Vectra (remember that?)...and then some. I am talking of cars which are really good products but had poor acceptance in the Indian market.

Thanks again!
Payne

PS: A vote for us at the GDC would be useful!
