Public opinion in the Cedia's case is strange. But hey, if you and me are happy about the buying price, that is all what matters.
Please post the link for the votings. I'm too lazy to search

Excellent writeup payne.... very well described.. lots of emotions...
Waiting for the actual ownership report! The Cedia has been always underrated but there is no denying the rally pedigree in the car. Here's wishing you all the best for towmorrow and the future with your Blackhawk.
Also, went and had a look at the MC Driving Challenge. Good Stuff! The two of you have my support! Probably in two years time I shall be in the same shoes as you guys after college
All the best!

Excellent write-up. I almost ended up searching for "and they lived happily ever after" in the end. Congratulations on your purchase . I am sure your going to make a few Puneites envious. Now looking out for a drive report of some kind maybe a initial ownership report.

The journey begins

Okay. So today was the DAY! Picked up the Blackhawk, all paperwork done. Insurance done. Got out of the busy city centre and drove down to Baner only to get completely stuck in a jam due to some issue near Aundh. Trudged along till the road opened up.

Wow. I'll say it again and again, the torque in this machine is to die for. Flat torque available at every rev, with 2nd and 3rd gears being the most fun of the lot! (Yet to step into 4th properly, highest hit is only 110kmph before traffic came up). The astounding brakes which cause no drama whatsoever and that great handling feel when you throw the car into a corner at 90kmph is something to experience to believe. Very very much in love still.

Yes, 1st gear is a bit slow but the fun really starts after 40kmph in this car. The new Michelin PP2 are silent and full of grip as well. Am lovin' it!

And without further ado, here are the shots.

A new journey

Better shots taken in the day will be posted SOON!

Well, it's been 4 days with the beauty so far. We've gotten to know each other better now and are quite comfortable in each other's presence. She's quick as hell and the temptation to ride her fast is frikkin' irresistible! It's just not possible to exercise restrain with that engine.

We drove up to Kamshet and then onto a hang-gliding point up a hill. The road up was only 2-2.5metres wide at places and could accomodate max one car at time. It was a gravel-based road with >45 degree inclines at some points. More on the trip later!

Some queries and issues so far
The previous owner had all oils replaced at 30,800kms. Brake pads and sparks replaced at same time. The Michelins are only 3000kms done to day, so I guess they still have a looot of life left in them. Initial ownership experience has been fairly awesome!

BUT, there are a lot of minor issues which I've noted down and continue to note while using the car. Will get all these done through Mitsu Dealer itself.

These are:

1. Focussing and power of lights (very very weak and spread out lights!). I don't mind plonking for a brand new pair of bulbs. Do you recommend the Philips Extremepower 55/60?
2. HVAC thermostat has gone out of wack, it onlys cools the hell out of the cabin. Need to fix it.
3. Rear defogger has conked, need to bring it back to life.
4. Need a clock in this thing, the 2006 Cedia Sports did not come with the digital clock while the Elegance had it.
5. Need transparent mats for the monsoons!
6. Are the power windows usually so slow in operation? They seem very sluggish!
7. Should I get some sort of rubber beading for the door-ends? I don't mean the ugly bands that flow across the side of the car but only for the door-edges; to prevent from scratches while opening the door. Are they available in the market?
8. I will get the car polished and detailed when the rains cease for some time, no point in doing it now. The car gets dirty within minutes of taking it out of the house. :|

I am most concerned about the lighting, please advise!

Cheers!
Payne

Congratulations Joseph! excellent car, awesome colour and well written reviews.
I know I got late congratulating you but the topic says BlackHawk.. so I thought Its a Scorpio review... It was just your name that prompted me to open the thread and see.. I thought you bought a scorpio and I was like the guy was looking for a Cedia.

Anyways, I am very happy that you got the beauty for a decent price.
genuinely in mint condition.

Keep revvvvvving... Its been just 2 months and I have driven my cedia about 8000 kms... and whenever I say to myself come on thats enough, some days drive your old partner (M800) as well.. I am like one more day Pleaseee..hehehe. I have driven it every what way a car can be driven and its seriously is irresistible!

Your queries

Focussing and power of lights: I have not had any such problem... I would say get them checked at service station and if the bulbs need to be changed, Philips is good.

HVAC thermostat: Yes I have got that fixed 2-3 times but it comes off.. the service guy told me that its when the the HVAC unit is opened for installing the audio system, the thermostat knob and the its cable that goes under the dashboard is taken out and the clip normaly gets loose.. he said there's no permanent solution and asked me to get it done from any car ac shop whenever it may comes off. its just a 2 mins job.

Power Windows: Yes they are slow but not sluggish.. I found that when I sat in a cousin's swift and they were real fast.

Also If you may check for me... when you switch off the ignition andtake your key out.. the power windows still work. dont know why but I havent seen this in any other car..

Also get the plastic mats ASAP because when the fabric mats go wet they start stinking.. Plastic mats will help in keeping the carpet and mats clean and makes it easier to get the the dust out.

Further, when you get the car polished, I think it may be better if you get a proper buffing done. I think Mitsui charges 1500 for buffing 1 time and 2900 for 3 times a year.. Although, buffing erodes car paint and is recommended once in couple of years.

Awesome review and super pictures. Looking at the picture of the key, it is obviously not a simple point-and-shoot camera.

OT: How are you protecting your camera in the rain while taking pictures? In my case, either my lens or the LCD screen gets wet...
