I've got the 'i'..but this time its automatic (Hyundai i10 Sportz AT)

Hi

i have been posting for last 2 years with TEAM BHP. i am owning a 500CC bullet machismo(2008 model) & Honda Activa(for my wife). but as of cars are concern, i am a guy who had changed 4 cars in last 3 years..

i was using ZEN CARBON till 2007 & by feb 2007 i got Hyundai VIVA..then by Jan 2008 looking at TEAM BHP posts started checking cars like cedia, lancer and finally ended up with VERNA CRDI SX ABS.. this was an excellent car and the very next year though the car was very good for me, as my friend wanted that car..i had sold it to him. then i wanted to go for a BIG car as per any indian mentality ended up with a 6 months old CIVIC VMT. this is an absolute no-nonsense car & excellent to drive with good road presence. but the problem is its ground clearance and i feel CIVIC is not a car for person who drives across the city everyday..then as i got a good deal for this car, i sold this too.

now looking at recession, my son getting older(he is entering kinde garden now) wanted to get a car for my wife & one for me.

I had one thing in mind before this was not to go for HYUNDAI again..

i wanted to get a car for my wife in such a way that i can use it for next 6 months & looking at the hike wanted to take a good SUV for me. So i checked out for SWIFT ZXI for which no dealers in chennai was ready to commit a delivery date. Then started looking at various other cars like A-star, spark, punto etc..

but fate never left me out of Hyundai..As i-10 was the only one which had an automatic in this segment & as wife liked the electric red sportz..i had end up with it(wife is the BOSS everywhere)

And as this is my 3rd car from HMP-chennai..i got a very good offer around 40K direct cash back, with 3M sun flim, carpet mat & remote.
the on road price came to 4.79lacs for SPORTZ AT..

i got the delivery on 7th Sep 2009. Took it directly to LAL TYRES in royapettah..gave 4 stock tyres for 2000 each and got michelin 185/60/R13 tyres & Black alloys..

Michelin tyres 185/60/R13 - Rs 3450 each * 4

alloys - Rs 12000 for 4

stock tyres withwheel caps - Rs 2100 each * 4

i got the REG No. only today. So will post the pics of the car by tomm..

All my friends were saying that i will feel very bad to drive i10 automatic after driving a civic.. but to be frank, i10 automatic was much much easy to drive in city and as of power is concerned it was very easy to drive in 'D' mode..and that too when i shift to '2' mode it really fires like a jet..

Stay tuned for more about ownership report...

Congrats Deepanonline and reclaim the lost glory in city driving.

I am enjoying my i10 AT driving in Bangalore city and felt the easiness and great relief for left leg, imagine we apply clutch atleast 50 times in MT cars till we reach office everyday but AT takes out enormours amount of stress on our left leg.

The pickup is adequate or i would say it is more than adequate.
Though i understand moving from big cars to small cars is an emotional decision but the comfort it provides in city is excellent.

(+ve)
i10 AT is easy to drive
i10 is easy to park
i10 is less in maintenance.
Ingress /eagress is good which is also good for old people.

(-ve)
i10 AT Fuel efficiency.
Rear seat comfort is good only for 2 people.
Luggage space is inadequate.
Thick A-Piller obstructs visibility while taking a turns

Congrats and join the i10 AT club. I have an i10 AT Asta as well. Keep us updated on the FE figures. Awaiting the pics.

Don't shift to 2 just for power. It's like driving in 1st gear all the time. Use the kickdown mode to get more power. Just slam the accelerator and the gear will automatically change and give more power. Remember, these all will affect your fuel average.

Congrats deepen and welcome to the i10 AT club. I have recently joined this club (26-Aug) and enjoying the electric red sportz AT (exactly your choice). Well, initially purchased for wifey but now, I am thinking of giving her the vtec and keeping the AT for myself.

Exacly, try to drive in D above the shift points to get maximum mileage. refer to i10 fuel efficiency thread for more details.

Hovering between 7-7.5. First service is due. Can't find the time to spare a day and stand and get the service done.

Still quite low :( .
I am getting around 10. My drive consists of 60-40 Highway-city drive, around 46 kms a day. Around 330 on the odo.

No wonder. My dad drives 1.5-2kms a day. So his monthly quota is as much as your daily drive.
