Guys..a little help.

Am finding it a little difficult to accelerate/pickup in 1st/2nd gear..maybe will take sometime in getting used to it or it may be my Ikon hangover. Basically, I thought, with Fiesta, from a red light, I will be first one to vroom ahead.

Will appreciate if someone can explain what am I doing wrong here?

Please go little patiently till the odo reaches 1500 kms.
Then you do the competition-first one to vroom from one signal to another (by that time you will get the gear change timings and the shift also will become smoother).

Thanks Gilhead. I shall keep you posted as and when the offer prices are announced for the accessories. Until then I can help with new car price discounts of about 10-15K under a scheme.

However, I do this only when I get into that competitive spirit---such driving aint all that good for F.E.

This apart, yours is a new car, so please refrain till you cross 2000 kms on the odo.

The most I liked in this car is its sudden pick up!
While climbing minor hill like areas, after reducing the speed, I have seen
many other brands are struggling to get back the normal speed.
Last 2 days I drove 500kms and during these drive I get all other sedans
competing on the road and overtake. I allow them but will catch them
on a slope when they struggle to climb on the same speed. I simply overtake them in 3rd or 4th gear with rpm under 2500.:) I enjoyed this!

Didn't have the time. This one can be a teaser:)

Registeration/deliver should be completed within the coming 2 days. Delay is from my side in documentation and not the dealer's.

For Rs.5250 essential pack the sales rep said he's giving me the waxoyl treatment for the body+usual mats. I've asked the accessories in-charge to call me back tomorrow. There's no way am paying 2.5K for waxoyl.

Hi guys

wanted to know if anyone has got the "S" model's spoiler installed in other variant of Fiesta. I guess that's the only thing I am missing currently with my Sxi, had got the "S" alloys installed as soon as I purchased the car. thanks

For 5250/- ess pack, only underbody treatment from waxoyl is included. Paint protection etc is not included in this. Correct me if I am wrong.

Pls search & read the thread related to 3M/Waxoyl etc treatment. You can negotiate the price, but the underbody treatment, in my opinion, is a good investment. It puts a thick hard-wax like coating which prevents rusting. Noise from small particles from the road hitting the underbody while driving, also is reduced.

Also, Waxoyl guys are offering foll. treatments separately:
1. Motorcare - Rs. 450/-..Some spray is used under the bonnet & engine compartment to give it a anti-dust/rust/grease protection. Cheap at 450/- so am going for it.

2. Cavity treatment - The spray the inside of the door panels and other places wherever water can get inside thru holes. This will prevent rust/corrosion from inside out - am going for it. Do not remember the price but it is around 2K, if I remember correctly.

3. Paint Protection - 3 stages: costs some 3K.
a. Use of clay to remove all contaminants from the body and make it smooth
b. Next some rubbing compound will be used with a buffing machine to fill up the minute cavities and give a smooth layer.
c. Finally, use some polymer coating (NOT teflon) to give a ultra-gloss finish

In case regular washing/waxing is done, the paint protection may be avoided. But the waxoyl guys told me that whenever I come for service, they will inspect and do touch up as required for all the above 3 packages, free of cost.

Hey Sanjay, thanks for the info dude:)

Am confused now! Here's what Gopal from Chennai Ford told me,
Either underbody anti-rust treatment or some treatment on the body which provides protection from minor scratches (I don't believe), bird droppings etc.

Now here's my take,
* My 6+ yr old Ikon's underbody isn't falling apart without any fancy coating. So why do I need it? This is a "nice to have" but I don't see it as a "must have"
* I'll have to speak to Gopal on the body polishing stuff now. What exactly are they doing-Teflon, 3M, waxoyl etc. I just thought that since it's morello (dark colour) some amount of polishing would help in keeping the shine for a long time.

I got the Waxoyl body treatment done as part of the corp discount. The paintwork does gleam even after a regular wash. Not sure if it's because of the Waxoyl thing. This was part of the 5250 'essentials pack' which they gave for free.

I am thinking of getting the underbody rust protection done during the first service. I got it done some 5 years back for my 800 and the undebody is still nice and black with no signs of rust anywhere.

Now this is wheremy question is - Does waxoyl body treatment going to cost 2.5K? I don't think so.

Shall I ask for under body treatement+waxoyl body treatment for 2.5K?

Anti rust treatment is for underbody and cavities where water can accumulate (like under the rubber beading inside the door panels). You must have noticed lots of old cars which start getting rusted around the trims of door panels..these are very dangerous and cannot be treated since the corrosion starts from the inside due to water collecting in the inside. At least, that is the theory;-} How far the anti-rust treatment will actually help, is anybody's guess, since you cannot peek inside..do you? In absense of any conclusive evidence, I am inclined to believe those guys (not the salesman, but the onsite Opulent representative Mr. Premkumar, middle-aged, gave a detailed explanation and seemed to know what he is talking about)

As I have already mentioned, the paint protection plan, in theory, claims to provide protection from dried water marks, bird droppings, minor scratches (the type of scratches you get from using dry cloth for cleaning which rubs the dust particles and create swirl marks. Do not confuse this with deep gashes..this cannot be protected). However, if you are planning to do regular waxing on your own, this is not required.

Agreed. I suggest you ask them for a demo when next time you visit the dealer. If possible, try looking at the underside of non-coated as well as a coated vehicle on a ramp. You can see the difference and then take a decision. Particularly look at the joints of exhaust pipes etc.

Chennai Ford is doing Waxoyl treatment. Basically their tie-up is with Opulent India (http://www.opulentindia.com/) which is distributing Huper-Optik sunfilm (German) and Waxoyl (Switzerland). You can find all details on this website.

Happy to help....or Confuse??
My comments in bold.

Disclaimer: Am no expert at all these. Have done my research thru various sources, and using common sense to come at a conclusion. Strictly my opinion - to be taken with a lot of caution.

Gilead/Kiku,

Confusion Galore!

This Gopal guy at CF simply talks out of his hat - I think he is the accessories specialist there. Today was not able to recognize him - he has shaved his head.

When he was showing me the different shades for the Huper-Optik sunfilm, I asked him about the legality of very dark shades - he immediately responded that they are using those shades only which are legally allowed. But within some minutes Premkumar from Opulent joined the discussion and told that shades with 50% and above visibility are only legal as per Motor Vehicles act. So there you know - Gopal - shooting off his mouth.

Coming back to Waxoyl..

Gilead, in the 5250/- pack Waxoyl under-body treatment is included - not body, i.e., the exterior painted surface..at least in my case. I can clearly see that. If you open the bonnet, look for signs of dark brownish-back sprays on the insides (left of the coolant etc)..when the spray is done from the bottom, some amount will come into the gaps/crack from the underside..this way I was assured that indeed some under-body spraying was done. Also, if you put your hand under the chasis, some thick paste will stick to fingers (not sure in you case if it may ave dried up of not)..I accidentaly did during the pooja time at delivery..it was not going away even after washing thru soap/water.

The other waxoyl treatment, as mentioned earlier are:
1. Cavity Protection 2. Paint protection 3. Motorcare. All these can be taken together (with some discount) or separately.

There is no such thing as "body protection" technically, but maybe, if all these 3+underbody is taken together, they are referring to it like this.

Have left the paper on which individual breakup was given to me for each of these at the dealer. Will get you the details tommorow. BTW, Premkumar's number is 94441-58233. Why don't you guys separately call him and take the costings. I will also find out from him separately and then let's compare to ascertain the authenticity.

Today the dealer clarified me that anti rust is not required on fiesta, so not going for it now

What I have is the paint protection. I have vouchers for two more coatings which are due over the course of the next one year. That is also available along with the 5250 pack. I don't have the under body anti rust protection done yet. I think it costs 3.5K. Nairsaab can confirm the price.

kiku: No way the dealer is going to offer you paint protection AND under body protection for 2.5K dude. lol But you can try and let us know if it works. If it does, I'll try my luck as well.

Gilead, seems like they are offering paint protection for darker colored cars (blue for you) and under-body for lighter colors (silver for me);-} or were u given the choice of selecting paint protection or under-body??

Should we guys have a con-call on this?!stupid:

Or may be I should prepare a flowchart with diff process flows?!! Everyone has a diff version! LOL!
