the rates are not common - each dealer quotes a different rate for a similar item . Also the tax varies from state to state.
And you must understand that the dealers make more money on the accessories. Anyway, be cautious before finalising any product and make sure you are getting original Ford accessory:D |
Thanks. Actually, I've checked with another dealer (in a different state) for the same and the response was nearly identical. (benefit of staying in NCR :)).

Now the only thing I need is to have the sports spoiler, which I am given to understand would cost anything between 18-19K with the paint job. Was wondering if anyone has got this done and what was the cost as the normal spoiler costs between 9-10K with the paint job. |
The sports spoiler costs ~12K without tax and paint. Tax and paint should bring it to 14 or 14.5K max. Definitely not 18-19K. At Noida the taxes should be even lower if I am not mistaken. You may want to check with a different dealer.

Yes, I did the under body coating from Ford Dealer (some dealer suggests that no underbody coating required for ford cars as they do it in the factory, however I did it), but I did not do any body coating (and no intention to do it in the future also). |
There is no under body rust protection coating done at the factory. Not the 3M/Waxoyl kind.

It can't protect it from scratches. But the coating will ensure that ugly swirl marks don't show up and the paint retains it's factory shine for a while.

I think one of the Sonax car shampoos comes with a wax coat as well. Which one are you planning to use?

@gilead
I have seen similar comments (as above) from some other members in the past.:D
If the dealer himself (undercoating is an additional job for him and also some money making) suggests in this way, already there should be some protection in Fiesta's to prevent under body rusting - Dont you think so?

The dealer will blabber whatever he wants as long as he gets to maximize his margins on the accessories spend. They know every customer will have a certain budget and they will recommend the products with the highest margin within that budget. E.g. if he makes very little margin on sun film, he will say that the Fiesta comes with a transparent sun film from the factory and no need to install anything more. :)
If you see a thick goo coat under the body, that is real rust protection. A regular paint job which they will do on any iron part is not the real thing though it will protect against rust to some extent as well. The additional advantage of the goo coat is that it will deaden any noise as well.
My two cents,
I have always believed that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I'm doubtful of any marketing claim.
Eg. Right from anti-dandruff shampoo to petrol with additives.
Similarly this anti-rust treatment or paint protection etc.
The only reason I thought of taking the paint protecting is am very bad with cleaning cars. In fact my Ikon is golden harvest colour and wanted the fiesta in platinum. Dust or dirt doesn't contrast with these colours:) Wifey raised war flag (Mother will also) so booked the Morello:)
So anything that helps in keeping it clean is welcome for me.
P.S: In any case, a car would need some tinkering, re-painting after say 6 yrs. Any rust can be taken care of then I feel. To each his one but let us not be mislead by these marketing claims though. Hope you guys are aware that NONE of the Fuel companies where able to prove factualy their claims of power or mileage increase with their additives mixed fuel.

I agree. BTW Ford recommends that you add System G/D additive to the Fiesta along with the regular fuel. It's right there in the manual. :) They don't claim any mileage or power increase but apparently it will keep the injectors clean.

Hey Nair-ji,
You got it done from the ford. I think the underbody coating was above 5K from waxoyl.
I won't recommend the waxoyl exterior coating from Ford (at least in HYD) now. When I have done it for my fusion almost 4 years back the quality was excellent. But for the fiesta I have done it from Ford, but the quality was very bad. So after an Year I got it done from outside (3M) and it was good. |
Is it really required to go for an anti rust and teflon/ waxoyl treatment, my ford sales guy told me that there is no need as such.

Here is the waxoyl pricing break up which I got:
- Underbody coating - 2800/- (part of 5250/- essential pack deal) - completed
- Cavity Protection - 2800/- yet to do
- Paint Protection - 2800/- yet to do
- Motorcare - 450/- yet to do
This will come with warranty certificate. Paint Protection 2 free touchups will be done during servicing. Verbal assurance that at every service (6 monthly), a full checkup of the above 4 schemes will be done and preventive/touchup maintenance will be done as required.
Am not keen to do the paint protection but then again, what is 2.8K compared to 800K already spent on the car. Side benefit seems that at every service, minor issues on the body paint can be worked on by them.

I dont know how far this paint protection will help the car -keeping the car shining always or protect car paint from any defects/scratches?
I had an Accept five years back. I sold the car after running 3.5 years and
without any paint protection or body coating, the car(black colour) looked in very shining condition. However I used to polish/waxing once in every
6 months.
When I was having my m800 (my second car), my dealer suggested to apply body coating (I dont want to name the product here)- after the coating the car (Red colour) looked very very shining and I was very happy, however in couple of months time the shining gone away and the original paint shine started fading -again I had to do the polishing and waxing regularly to maintain the shining. Since then I never used any body coating to any of my cars so far.
This is just my experience only - may be latest chemicals may be better in keeping the car shining for ever:D |
Good, that is what i am also planning to do, only a wax polish at certain intervals and anti rust when it is required.

Yes, agree that Ford recommends to system G/D addive etc., but these grade is not available in all places. I believe only metros and major cities have above fuel grade. Commonly we see in most suburban and village places those pumps normally have only unleaded or speed/power petrol?:D

System G/D is an additive made by IFTEX. It's not a grade of fuel. You can buy a couple of half litre cans and keep them in the boot even if you live in a suburban area. :) Need to add 1 ml to every litre of unleaded. Sort of like how autos add 2T oil when they fuel up. lol

sorry, I have used the wrong words (fuel grade).
I have seen similar Additives but never took iniative to do the extra effort so far. When I asked with my dealer guy about this, he has not given
any recommendation about the additives.:D

Good to see some heat being generated w.r.t. anti-this and anti-that..was feeling a bit cold in Chennai's rains.:D
GOD, being infected with TBHP virus, we are shredding everything to threads..99.99999% of all car buyers don't even bother about all this. Just think of how much money they are saving in terms of man-hour costs. And at the end of 5 years, chances are they will have their vehicles in a better condition:eek:
@kiku, for me, marketing claims is a way to attract attention. Post that, it is upto the end-user to make an informed decision after separating facts from fiction.
Also, once rust starts, as far as I know, we are doomed. There is no option other than replacement..all other options are just to delay the inevitable. In fact, I put this question to the Waxoyl guy who was touting about the 2 yrs warranty..When I asked what happens even after treatment if it starts rusting? Will Waxoyl bear the cost of replacement? Then he corrected himself, and said, by warranty he means, that at every service, they will do touch ups/preventive care blah-blah-blah..
@Gilead/Nairji, on reading the Fiesta manual, seems like it has been edited in China..lot of repeatations/typos/contradictions. Classic contradiction is voiding warrant on tire/rim size changes and then suggesting to reset the OBD stuff thru the dealer. This system G thing was there in Ikon manual as well, but at dealer level they simply tell normal unleaded is fine. A distinction should be made between what is "fine" and what is "better".
@All, please note that this anti-rust/paint protection stuff is not something which dealer is directly doing. They simply have a tie-up with the 3M/Waxoyl guys and surely they may be getting some %age. I had a talk with the 3M guys (Waxoyl, apparently do not provide service outside the dealer) prior to getting the delivery. The direct qoute from 3M was appx 1000/- less if it is done at their centre. Why I decided to have this done at the dealer itself..so that unnecessary shuttling betwen different places. On top of that, if something goes wrong, each will blame the other for the problem. Life would be slightly easier under one roof.
All said and done, the bottomline is this. We all want to splurge when the car is new. Let me see how many of us will even have emptied the bottle of waxes/shampoos/tyre cleaner/dashboard cleaner after a year or so? It is like pampering the just married lady till the honeymoon period. Post that only, cost-benefit analysis comes into play. Nairji can afford to not have paint protection..during his weekly 500Km trips, the exterior is automatically cleaned by the winds/rains.
So currently, let's enjoy the honeymoon period.
@looking for spoiler guys: fixed the non-S spoiler for 10K at my dealer - all inclusive - what is this crap about separate charges for painting?? Who wants to fix an un-painted spoiler? Why it should be priced separately? Beats me.
PS: In the corporate/finance/political world, if a certain budget is allocated/earmarked for the year, and the same cannot be 100% utilized within the budgeted year, you are held accountable and termed inefficient. Similarly, before buying the car, I am sure, everyone would have a particular budget in mind..so go ahead and wisely spend the budgeted amount. After all this is one-time expense for the next 5 years for most of us.
Thanks all. Now I am off to Haute Car Zone to buy those special microfibre/chamois clothes so that the watchman can start the cleaning job;-}
Transitio report.
Got an information from the dealer that my car has reached the stock yard.
Yahoooooooooooooooo...............
Finally my dream reached the place, sale guy called me up to do the left formalities of documentation and meking the rest payment.
Was so excited, that i left the office then only, went straigt to court for getting notery on my pan card and passport and getting a NSC of 1000 (formalities for RTO purpose)
Then i went to the dealer, he asked me to do the rest payment, i made it through RTGS (so that they can get the money in few hours and not wait for the check clearance) and opted for a 2 years EW.
He told me that the VIN of my car is 9E, i think its a december manufactured vehicle.
He will hand over the vehicle only when the road tax and insurance is done. For RTO i declined to go for a VIP number and asked him to allot me any number.
Dealer offered me to go for a matting and mud flap from the after market, they are quoting 3k for both. Confirmed me that mat is ford original. Tell me what should i do.
