Full Tank
Diesel - 600+ Kms
Petrol - 400+ Kms
I might end up sticking a black sticker on the DTEstupid:

I got the worst ever full tank DTE reading today. Just 415!

May be the engine is angry with you for not ripping it once a while !!:) I have never seen anything less than 540 on a full tank. All the best !

@mayukh

sun film : I have not done it so far
Tyre upgrade: I have not done it.

3rd and 4th year EW: yes, I paid only Rs.8300 for 2 years EW and have got the certificate from Ford. But this amount may change depending on the tax structure in different states. However 9880 seems bit high, unless you get a invoice/reciept from FORD for this amount?

Sunfilm options are plenty. 3M/VKool/Garware are the most used ones out of which VKool seems to be the costliest. However, I have gone for Huper-Optik, which was being offered by the Waxpol Representative at my dealer, costing appx 6.5K for rear+side windows and 5.5K for windscreen. I was using 3M in my previous Ikon for 6 yrs and never had any issues post installation.

2. I have heard BHPians changing their Fiesta's stock tires. My car's tires are of MRF (not sure about other details). Is the change necessary for me too? I am little skeptical too about changing the tire profiles. Please advise me the best.

I was also tempted to change the stock tyres but holding on to the MRF ones. IMO, the problem of upgrading the tyres and getting them realigned/balanced etc, is open to too many chances, where if things go wrong, you won't know who to blame. Since our dealer was not offering the same, I decided against it for the time being. Will upgrade the tyres, maybe, 2 years down the line.

However, if your dealer if willing to fit the tyres themselves, then there should be any risk of warranty getting void.

For both the above, let me know whether it is advisable to take from the dealer or from outside shop. How much will be the approx. cost?

IMO, it is better to opt for the dealer, in a sense, that everything gets done under one roof, and you might get a better overall package. Further, if something goes wrong, each will not blame the other. And, during every service visit, you can catch hold of all the guys at the same place. However, you can get the rates outside and negotiate for a better deal with the dealer.

Apart from these, I do also have the scuff plates and sporty pedal (FORD originals) in mind. Hope to get them soon.
Though I have got the scuff plates, not too sure about the utility value of the same, since they are too small in size to really prevent scratches on the footbaord. However, the sporty pedal should be a must in your accessory list. This looks nice and clean, and if you drive barefoot like me, being a first time driver, it is a boon. Be careful when getting it fitted..though..it may come out if not fit properly..try shaking/pulling out with your hand to ensure that it has been set properly.

Regarding Extended Warranty (3rd + 4th), I heard people getting it at approx. Rs. 8300. But my dealer says that it costs Rs. 9880 and he will provide the original receipt too. Am I missing anything here?
EW should come to 8300/- I think your dealer is adding the RSA-Road Side Assistance warranty which cost nearly 1500/- in this as well.

These are my queries as of now. I am really thankful for all the help you all provided.

My responses in bold inline. Regarding sunfilm/tyres, you can also refer to dedicated threads for more info.

Added to your wishlist, you also need to decide on underbody coating/paint protection/anti-cavity treatment etc, which again are part of new car ownership.

EDIT: I am not finding any advantage in the front windscreen sunflim, glarewise while driving in the evening. But that maybe also becos I am used to the anti-glare coating on my spectacles and hence may not be an advantage for me. Cannot comment on the less-heating property, becos mostly my car in parked under covered parking.

That's why I invited him for an ECR meet..but Kishore excused himself by suggesting he wants to meet somewhere near his home..what!! like some walkable distance:Frustrati

Gilead, from my residence, ECR up/down will be appx 80-100KM. Let's do a FE test by filling up the tank at some common petrol pump on 100ft road. Date/Time - any Sat/Sun will do..you decide.

EDIT: 10 Litres petrol sponsored by me..(loads of IOL petro coupons I have..driving for last 6 yrs without paying cash. These coupons are from my Citibank Cards Rewards points)

@kishore/Gilead

There seems to be some mistake in DTE reading.
When on Delivery, I Filled up 43.43litres of petrol (full tank - less what was there in the tank) and my DTE shown as 521kms.

during last long drive, I filled up the tank and it was 42.5litre and the DTE then shown
as 535kms (means for a full tank). There can be some variation but 400/450kms for a full tank seems something to be checked ?

Just as I am reading this, got a courier from Chennai Ford regarding an invite for "Introduction Meet" between 6:30-7:30pm on 9th Jan (Sat) at their Arumbakkam workshop, signed by one Mr Rajesh, Mgr-Cstr Relations. In the morning, got a call from FORD regarding feedback as well.

Good, go to the meet if possible and get clarified your doubts, if any.
Any good informations you get in the meet can be shared to us also.
All the best !

Iam getting my fiesta polished weekly by pidilite wax polish, i think its better than going for teflon.

Thanks Nairji. Will be definitely going. Sincerely hope this meet will be well attended, going by the Dec sale numbers.

Meanwhile, all Fiestians here are welcome to post any clarifications/questions, which can be brought up in this meet.

My list of questions/doubts, which I can think of now!
1. DTE calculations funda (the current hot topic here)
2. Tyre Upgrade and void warranty related
3. My car was delivered with the coolant level above max mark which should not be as per manual.
4. Going by the job card/checklist that is signed by us during the service visit (vide my Ikon servicing experience), everything is ticked in the checklist. How do I ensure that it has indeed been checked. For example, during engine oil replacement, how do I ensure that each drop of existing old oil has been sucked out before filling up new oil? Do I have to accept this at face value or is there any monitoring / maker / checker mechanism?

Maalik..Tussi Great Ho! Bahut passion haiclap:

But weekly might be an overkill for the car,IMHO,..but good for your biceps though! Is there any recomendation on "Directions for use" in the pidilite thing about weekly use? I was thinking once in 2 months should be good enough! Your's is white, right!

Also, is this wax OR polish! Waxing and Polishing are 2 different things, if I go by the dedicated thread on this topic. Polishing too frequently might be detrimental in the long run, as per the common consensus.

Weekly polishing needed really??
imo, once in a month polishing will give much more result and shining than going in for teflon coating:D

I understand that from 1st Apr 2010 BSIV emission norms will come into force in Bangalore and other 11 cities in India, which means that any vehicle which doesn’t comply with it could not be sold and registered in Bangalore. So what will be the fate of Ford Fiesta Petrol as it does not comply with BSIV emission norms. Will Ford launch the car with a new engine before 1st Apr which complies with BSIV emission standards or what?

BS iv emission, if comes into force from April 1st, then it will be applicable only for those cars registered from 1st April 2010. If this is going to be implemented strictly, then all car manufacturers will try to adhere to the this emission for all their cars manufactured/delivered from 1st April?

Same here. I'll meet you @ Chennai Ford then!

Hey guys, the DTE showing 400+ was just an example. Don't take it too seriously. I'll fill up tomorrow and give the exact figure.
