Is'nt the DuraTech/Torq engines from FORD standard across US/Euro markets? If that be the case, it should already be Euro IV compliant, which is supposed to be stricter than BS4. Typically, emission norms here are 4-6 years behind Euro norms. With BS4, it will become kind of couple of years behind, going by various reports avlbl on the web.

@Jack, for existing non-BS4 owners there is no worry. If you question pertains to resalse of existing vehicle, since resale does not require re-registration, it should not be a problem.

That's great Shaju.... Mine has mostly shown around 480 on tank full. What's the traffic like most of the time you drive? The only time the DTE showed around 525 was when I was driving on a highway.

Great. My regn no ends with 0277 - Silver Color.

1. Tyre Upgrade and void warranty related

I've got the tyres of my Sxi upgraded to Alloys of "S" alongwith upgrade of tyres to 195x55xR15. I've got this done through Ford dealer and don't really think that this will in any way impact the warranty, else Ford would not have supplied the alloys in the first place.

The only thing you would need to ensure is that your ECU has been reprogrammed for the upgraded tyres. If not than your speedo readings will not be correct and also, what I've been told by the service engineers is that it may damage the ECU if not programmed for the upgrade.

BTW - the ride quality, particularly the grip on the road increased post the upgrade.

Also, you can check about the mileage stuff - as I've been told that there is no difference between the mileage of "S" and other variants

The S has a different ECU map, read more aggressive. It's bound to give lesser mileage, but it showed 455 last time! I did do some aggressive driving and darting in and out of traffic etc in that period so maybe it has punished me by giving a 415 this time. I can take some solace from the fact that frankmehta's S gives even worse mileage. lol

That's why I invited him for an ECR meet..but Kishore excused himself by suggesting he wants to meet somewhere near his home..what!! like some walkable distance:Frustrati

Gilead, from my residence, ECR up/down will be appx 80-100KM. Let's do a FE test by filling up the tank at some common petrol pump on 100ft road. Date/Time - any Sat/Sun will do..you decide.
I can do this next Sunday. Will catch up on PM.

Nice of Chennai Ford. MPL Ford did nothing of this sort. Can I gatecrash since I plan to get the servicing done at CF? lol

I understand that from 1st Apr 2010 BSIV emission norms will come into force in Bangalore and other 11 cities in India,

We can expect some ECU or cat con job on the Fiesta to make it compliant. It will most probably reduce the power.

Next Sunday, I might as well be somewhere on the NH to Kolkata. After all, that is why purchased the Fiesta;-}

But, hey, this CF meet is not some wedding party...just drop in, and accompany either me or kishore. No bar on getting friends along..right!

We can even meet pre/post this CF meet at the Cafe Cofee day at anna nagar 3rd Ave along the Anna Arch opp the CF showroom.

@sanjayc
What if the tyres are not upgraded but just changed. I changed the stock tyres to Michelin. Would this require the ECU to be re-programmed and would it affect the speedo readings. I have seen huge fluctuations in the DTE readings in the mornings rather than in the evenings, the fluctations erratic when the tank has reached the refill stage.

I have filled the vehicle three times till now since taking delivery and have been filling regularly 38 ltrs of BPCL speed petrol. The odo presently reads 1735 kms which means on an avg I got 14.9kmpl. First fill(City+highway) - trip meter reading was 528, second refill(highway) - reading was 600, third refill (comp city driving) - reading was 536.
Fairly good performance till date, maybe the first servicing would increase the FE.

Can't comment much..no experience.

I don't see any issues if the profile of the tyres remains exactly the same as the stock one's. Why don't you check the excellent thread regarding everything with tyre upgrades/changes.

Regarding warranty issues, my dealer is not offering tyre changes, and hence the doubt. If you have got it done at your dealer, there should not be any issue.

BTW, I don't understand this "grip" thing..how do you quantify or measure that? Does the braking distance reduce with better grip?

Since tyre upgradation done through ford dealer, you need not to worry about the warranty as in anycase these are the people going to service/attend the problems, if any on your car.

@Gilead
Since the customer meet is organised by Ford/ford dealer, I think you can also attend same irrespective the dealer (CF or MPL )from whom you bought the car?

@Sanjay - For this you need to test drive "S" to feel the 'grip' thing. Though there is a difference in the ride quality on account of tweaked suspension for "S", but am sure barring that the difference on account of bigger footprint of the tyres you would be able to understand what I am trying to say.

I haven't felt any difference in the braking aspect and specs wise also I don't think there is any change in the braking system of "S" as compared to other models.

If there is no change in the basic specs of the tyres viz. if you have replaced the stock 175 14" tyres with any other brand 175 14" tyres, there is no need to get anything done. ECU reprogramming is required only if you happen to change the size of the tyres.

Sachin, my observation is when the car is idle in the 'parking' status. I dont think DTE will ever be correct in a moving vehicle due to the undulations our roads can cause. Even when I see 540 on the DTE and the car starts moving out to the road, it drops to 500 or less, so you know what I mean. Accuracy is to every drop of petrol in a luxury car, but not on a fiesta. Its not just personal view, but commented by many.

You are right Shaju, the DTE can't be blindly trusted - this has been discussed at length here. Am of no different view.

Regarding the actual thing being discussed here is when you get the tank topped up what reading is usually seen. In my case it's mostly around 480 and when I start driving, depending on the traffic conditions the total of DTE and distance traveled does touch above 500 at most of the times.
