It still comes once in a while but now I am living with it because the going and coming back from service station takes half a day. I know it is annoying but can't do much.

shipnil - in my case, it is coming consistently. You think it is from inside the back pillar ? I don't feel so...Sounds like coming from some joints, which could be likely from backseat assembly. Anyway, I won't have the issue of the squeak disappearing in front of showroom people :-) . I just need to take them over couple of bumps and gutters, the squeak is very much audible ! Hope this is something they can fix.

It will take a few more days to get used to your driving. And probably you should drive sedately so that you start to get even better figures if not already. And do a few highway runs then the car settles down to a decent efficiency figure. It works in my case with my petrol figo and ive extracted sometime even 19kmpl as from my previous posts in the thread. But thats a mix of highway and city driving.
And i hope you dont keep the engine running whole filling the petrol. DTE also gives wrong readings then which get self corrected later on.

Cheers.

In the figo, when you open the glovebox, on the right hand side there is a round provision. I could not figure out it's purpose. does anyone know about it?

It seems I am a 'criminal' then :Shockked:

Hi All,

I had Philips extreme of std spec installed at A.s.s in my Figo. ,
Both the bulbs have gone kaput now.

In both cases its the low beam filament which has fused
one lasted a little over year and second bulb went after 3 more months.
I think I drove 30k+ kms on these with major night driving with extensive dipper usage during the drives.

So in total I had 2 headlamps and one fog lamp bulp fused.

Now back on std 100 rs bulbs. I really suspect the relay sitting behind glove box.

Anybody else has faced similar issue.

I thought that is the area from where the USB cable from the head unit is brought out in case you install it. I had enquired about it from showroom and they had pointed toward that area. Once i heard glove box i decided against it. Im not sure if we are talking about the same thing though.

Took a TD of a Figo Titanium TDCi today. Was looking for a decent city hatch to replace the ageing Chevy Optra 1.6. Was very impressed with the tractable engine and the fairly roomy interiors.

Had also taken a TD of a Beat Diesel yesterday, and was heavily disappointed with the engine. Compared to the Figo, the engine felt gruff and the interior was ridiculously cramped. The Figo pulls very nicely to 3.5k rpm and the boost really comes in around 2k. Feels nice, and the car has big-car like dynamics. Suspension felt nicely sorted. Even though the rear legroom is not that great, it is still better than the Beat. The sad part though, is the absence of rear power windows on a car that costs 700,000+ INR on road. AC was an absolute chiller. Excellent VFM car overall. Wonder how are the annual service costs and maintenance charges. Any thoughts on that, Figo owners? How are Ford spares priced?

In general, Figo spare parts are not much more expensive than other cars in the B-segment, and these are the regular replacement parts like fuel filter, oil filter, etc. Also, a majority of parts commonly replaced during accident repairs (like fenders, door skin) are also reasonably priced.

That said, there are some parts which are priced downright silly. Rs.500+ for a 11" rear wiper blade anyone?

If you are looking for a city hatch why not go in for the petrol then? Yes many say its underpowered but it does the job well for me.
Id say other than Maruti you cant think of any other brand to provide cheap spares. But Figo is relatively hassle free ownership. And more vfm than any other hatch currently. Space, handling high speed stability and the fuel efficiency of the diesel. You cant ask for anything more. You will learn to live without rear power windows unless chaffeur driven. Take a TD on the highways and the put the pedal to the metal ;) rear windows will be forgotten as soon as you touch triple digit speeds without breaking a sweat.
Petrol sevice costs have been 1000rs for the first two services. Im yet to go in for my 3rd service.

Oh and i forgot to mention you will fall in love with the feedback of the full hydraulic power steering.

No more petrol powered cars. Not for use within the city on a daily basis anyway. Have the Optra that I can use for weekend runs to the movies and shopping and ferrying parents to and from the airport.

For all other daily needs, in today's market, a diesel hatch makes the most sense. Punto is too expensive, Liva is the same but feels built to a price, Beat is supremely cramped, and the wife and I will never consider a Maruti. Ever. VW thinks folks under 30 can't afford their cars, And, Honda charges money just for the emblem. Figo TDCi makes the most sense, if you ask me. Whether in the ZXi or Titanium avatar, is best left to the end user and their needs. 'Nuff said.

I agree. Theres a thread going on about the comparison of diesel and petrol car prices and how it affects in the long run. Since im on the phone app i cant post the link. Honda is soon getting ready to launch the diesel brio. You can consider waiting for it if you like the brio. Out of the two variants of figo id say the Zxi would make more sense unless you want to dish out few more bucks for front airbags and abs and ebd for city driving. Tdci will actually end up being economical for you in case you go for trips. My petrol one munches miles effortlessly. Tdci one would make it lighter on the pocket too.
Do have a read through the threads i mentioned if you havent already.
Regards.

@sourav9385-if you are going to be keeping your Optra, it will take care of having a spacious car. The Figo is the great deal, spacious enough, great engine. Just wish the car had some more ground clearance.
I need to replace my ageing Santro and did not want to compromise on space, and wanted a diesel. Got myself the Figo TDCi. I love the car. it scored over the Beat and Liva.

But every time a bumper appears, my reflex is to slow down and worry about scraping the car. Quite takes the fun outta driving the car. On the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, it was fun to drive, but in the city, I really dont wanna get stressed out.

The Beat and the Liva score here, the Beat more so, its like driving the Santro, no worries, just a great city drive.

If I had the Optra as my second car, I would have probably gone for the Beat, and had peace of mind whilst driving.

Tough spot to be in :), choose as per your requirements.

Best Always.

If you installed a usb in that slot, the glovebox cannot be closed with a USB plugged in. It looks like a slot for a ciggrette lighter, but again the same arguement holds.

Haha funny and incovenient place for a cigarette lighter. Its almost like urging the person to give up cigarettes because of the difficulty of reaching over, while driving, to the glove box for a puff.

Cheers.

Observation: When the engine is cranked, the RPM is usually around 800. But it so happens that within a couple of seconds, it starts fluctuating between 700 to about 1000 & all this happens without any accelerator input. This occurs for about 1 minute & does not happen again until the car has been parked for a long time.

Could anyone tell me what this could be about?

Hi blackfire,
Typically idle speed is controlled via a closed loop PID or some times PD controller. These are software algorithms and are dependent on hell lot of parameters like engine temperature, engine speed, engine off time, accelerator pedal etc. As far as I am aware of unlike gasoline , diesel doesn't have idle air by pass valve, rather it is controlled through the amount of fuel injected. So the idle speed hunting what you are seeing is the software over compensating or under compensating the amount of fuel injected to maintain the idle speed . If you don't suffer from mileage issue (partially blocked fuel injector would definitely cause idling problem) and since it doesn't happen after a minute my guess is its due to ECT sensor. It is from here the engine temperature is measured and some s/w strategy use this to infer engine off time. Get it checked for DTC and please update if you find anything.
