Thought will point out a few things.

1. Car is absolutely fine except for the few initial issues that cropped up. There is this occasional fuel injector/ECU light issue that crops up now and then but corrects itself.

2. Discussed this issue with fellow BHPian, Ravvenddrra who also owns a GTX. He says that the issue could be with one of the sensors nearing its life and ECU is going into "Limp" mode as a precaution. This could be understood as a warning for the owner who should not delay further and go to nearest garage to get this sorted out through analyzer.
I would agree and Ravveendrra and not delay this issue. The cascading effect of the sensor going bad is that your engine is working at its optimum level thereby giving you lower power and mileage.

Garware Alps for front wind screen- INR 4000
Garware Arctic Ice for windows and rear- INR 6000

Pls let me know if these prices are OK or high? Or do you suggest any other brand since 10K is higher.
The Palio AC is one of the best in its segment and cools very fast. My 7 year Palio 1.2 AC still chills without even a single gas refill. I would suggest getting the AC checked. I think the issue might be because of less gas.

10,000 INR for film ? I think spending 10% of the car cost on film is a little overboard !

You can even look at so called upsize tyres i.e. tyres that come off new cars which owners drive straight out from the showroom to the tyre shop for an upsize.

Re: Flame Red Palio 1.6 GTX- Story of an Indecisive Owner and a Fiat Car

Guys, I am in a dilemma. My GTX possibly could come under the hammer. Wife wants to buy a new Alto for her and does not want to use either GTX or Polo for her. We discussed the idea of using Polo for her and I use GTX for my office work. Though GTX could be expensive to maintain for daily routine, I could live with it. Can't buy a third car (Alto) as parking is an issue. Can't sell my Polo either as it is under company lease.

Given this scenario, would like to see your views.

1. Would you keep the GTX? Probably I need to spend couple of thousands to get new tyres.

2. Sell GTX and buy Alto promptly.

Re: Flame Red Palio 1.6 GTX- Story of an Indecisive Owner and a Fiat Car

you are in a bad situation 1.6litre Vs .8litre // 100bhp Vs 48nhp

If i was in your situation, i would have done this:

1. stretch my budget - Hire a safe parking for the GTX and buy an Alto for wifey
2. Use the Palio on weekends - save up and spend on tyres.

Women!!

Sheesh! What is with women. More particularly, what is with women and cars.

Men do not advise them on handbags / sandals, why not reciprocate and leave men+cars alone.

Basically Sir, you have very little choice seeing that your head (not to mention some unmentionables), is in a vice. My sympathies. . . .

PR has given a nice suggestion. Keep all 3 and hire parking but, somehow I always knew you would sell the GTX.

The GTX will fetch a decent price (in spite of having been abused in the past). Put the word out (PUG is a good bet).

Cheers,

Re: Flame Red Palio 1.6 GTX- Story of an Indecisive Owner and a Fiat Car

Well. thanks Rocker and Ravveendrra. Things are temporarily sorted out. Wifey agreed to try out Polo for sometime. I will move to GTX. If at all she gets hooked to Polo, there is no issue. If not, we agreed to sell GTX and buy Alto K-10.

After clocking good amount of highway miles on both Polo (4000kms out of 9000kms total run till today) and GTX (about 1000kms), I could say both are very inspiring and leave you with a smile. The plush ride on Polo and brilliant handling on Palio are something that I do not want to trade. Let us see. GTX na milegi dobara.

@gkoneti: Reading through the last few posts, I think its better for you sell the GTX and get a K-10. I think you'll feel better off. You are just not using a GTX the way it is supposed to be !

May be the K-10 is the way to go. Leave the GTX and its ilk to the boy racers like us

P.S: Just make sure that GTX finds a caring home. May be PM me before you are selling it off!
